Devastating news!

Post by Kreegle »

[ -> N/A]

The marketing team behind Devastation have definitely earnt their pay today...

First off, there's a new preview of the game at HomeLan. They just got their hands on a press build of the game (lucky sods) and made this conclusion after trying it out:
Based on this all too brief hands-on look at Devastation, we are more excited than ever that Digitalo, Groove Games and Arush could have a big sleeper hit on their hands with this title.

The ratbomb in action!

The team at ActionTrip have also had a peek at the game... here's their preview - and the conclusion:
Overall, Devastation is certainly worthy of your attention, as it brings its own, unique gameplay elements to the shooter market. Hopefully, the team at Digitalo will be given enough time to put the finishing touches on the code, and release the game once they feel comfortable with it. It just might turn out that Devastation will eventually breathe some fresh air into a rather stale single-player FPS genre.
Spotted at BluesNews.

There are also a bunch of new screenshots up at Gamehelper.com - but all I can see is broken image links. Maybe you'll have better luck... also spotted at BluesNews.

Finally, the ever-chatty Vic DeLeon took part in another short Q&A session, this time with Evil Avatar. It's completely focussed on the impressive OFX Particle System used in the game. What the hell is an OFX Particle System, you ask? Vic says:
OFX is an advanced set of functions and effects that have been integrated into the existing Unreal Warfare particle system. The base was written by Daniel Vogel at Epic, and the Digitalo team enhanced it to support the kinds of things we needed. We use OFX for everything from liquids to gas, and fire, ballistic surface impacts, and all kinds of other weird ways we have yet to explain.
Read more about the system here, and also check out the three tasty screenshots they've got.

And just to tidy this devastating day off... you can check out the official website here. Phew... I think that's it.
