Creating sprites with Spray

Post by seraglio »

hello all. I am still trying to make some guns with spray. I have photoshop 7 evaluation now. I was able to follow the directions in JJ's file and sprays readme, but now I am doing something wrong.

When I go to load my .raw image into spray I get an 'access violation' error. I read on the old board that this happens if you try to load a blank sprite but I don't think thats what I am doing. PS is closed before I open spray, so the file is not in use anywhere.

I created an alpha channel, shrunk it below 130x42 or something, saved as inteleaved 8bpp and all that stuff. Didnt have any problems with the instructions once I got PS7.

Am I doing something wrong in spray? Which file do I import first, the .raw or the pallette?. Should I be doing 'Import by name'?

By the way even if I open a sprite with spray and export to a .raw I get the same problem when trying to reopen that same .raw.

One thing when you save the .raw PS asks you a question about 'first bit' or something not sure but the default value is 0 and I have been leaving it there. Its the same screen where you choose interleaved or not.

Any help is appreciated. I really wanted to make a short campaign but am becoming rather discouraged that the game is really to hardcoded to mod the way I'd like

When saving the raw in PS, choose all of the default values. What OS are you using? Are you using Spray 1.1? In Spray make sure you highlight in the leftmost window GUIBIG before you import the raw file. Order should not matter. If it still doesn't work email me the raw file and act file.

Ahh I have to have GUIbig highlighted in spray when importing one? Did not recall reading that, will try that as soon as I get home and let you know thanks. As to your questions the machine I am using is windowsXP and it is spray 1.1. I can use W2k on another machine, does spray have probs with XP?

Thanks again for responding!

I got it figured out. I missed the thing about having a similair template open in spray when you import your raw.

Thanks for the help. Look for a m16 with scope and dual drum mags and some other guns from blade and other movies up on nma soon.
