ah good'old sarcasm well lets have a try...
Its so much fun when sulik runs right into every enemies line of fire, he has so many hitpoints that he can take millions of hits, so tough he might aswell not wear armour.
I cant tell you how useful it is having him die at the start of just about every big fight and assumming i dont kill him for annoyance, the first one to be cut down by frank horrigan.
Its great that sulik uses most of his aps running towards the enemy and sending them flying across the screen, may only get one hit at the very most per turn.
.... werent you ever told that sarcasm is the lowest form of wit??
AND just to get this back on topic - melee bad because it limits your ingame options and oppertunity for role play, strong dumb characters should expericnece as much as smart weak players.

Who says you have to be stupid to have a good melee character? I recently played through Fallout 2 with a melee character who also had a high speech skill, and it worked just fine. In fact, it's easier to create a diplomat/melee/unarmed character than it is to create a gunfighter/diplomat character because unarmed and melee start at a much higher level than any of the gun skills, leaving more skill points to devote to speech or barter.
And Sulik is a tough little fucker. His first stage has 93 hit points, and when he hits the sixth, he has 146, which is quite a lot more than either Cassidy or Vic, who peak at 128 and 132, respectively. And if you give Sulik good armour (the same armour you would have given to the gunfigher character you would replace Sulik with), he can survive tough fights.

If you don't like Sulik's sledgehammer beating, then take it away from him and give him a G11e instead. Load him up with a few thousand rounds of 4.7 and let the gates of hell swing wide open...
I've seen top-snotch bandits (pulse rifles + combat armors) get gunned down in matter of seconds when Sulik's on the hunting season.
That's the good deal with many NPCs: they have various skills. In fact, Vic gets better with Energy Weapons than Cassidy and Myron do. And Lenny does noteable damage with the P90 after all.

so.. more npcs in fallout 3?
maybe this time they will be absolutly restricted to one skill pool thats is to say weapons pool besides the melee only creatures in f2. And burst weaposn only tend to rip creatures apart are miniguns. i took sulik to enclave and he barely scrached the power armour.
even heavier armour next game? super-advanced power armour? or in pieces like body, gloves, boots, helm. mayeb u have to collect all the pieces to make a functioning suit or you must gather all the parts fo category.... boots and helm from hardened power armour, chest and gloves from advanced.
even more powerful weapons? the pulse rilfe and vindicator mingun were the best from f2. are the guns gonna get rediculously over powered next time? that seems to be the fate of sequals.

Isn't a role playing game supposed to offer different types of ways to play the game? So how the hell can melee limit your ingame options?? In fact, it allows you to handle combat with a totally different way than you would with ranged weapons. A melee character doesn't have to be a Sulik-like dumbass, it depends on how you've spent your attribute points. High strength isn't even required for a unarmed/melee character(it just gives you a few bonus points of damage). Just try a close range character for once. With the right perks and traits you can create a killer which can easily beat the crap out of Horrigan.Skynet Brain Bot wrote:melee bad because it limits your ingame options and oppertunity for role play

A LIGHT SKIMMING FOLLOWED BY 2 EGGS
I didn't read everything all the way through, but who cares.
*Non-humanPC
No thanks. I like my pulp-50s post-apoc games with large men with sweaty crotches, not zombies or the hulk.
*Non-multiple endings/more non-linearity
Because fallout is a linear hack'n'slasher :(((
if you actually role-played the role-playing games, tuff pcs should be at about the same exp level as a talky pc. If someone pisses you off or offends you, you should be able to kill them. If you're more talking orientated, you'd probably offend him and get killed or something.
fallout 3 needs something added/changed to the previous 2 games, but not much off the stuff in this thread IMHOHOHO

I think melee/HtH is effective for 'non-lethal takedown'. When I'm toe to toe against someone I use either the baton or my bare fist (depends what I'm good at) and cripple them first.
What I want more explored for melee/HtH is the 'non-lethal takedown' possibility. If I beat up a certain NPC until I get both his arms and he can barely put up a fight because he's blind, certain options should come up. Like I can end situations with violence, but not violence to the point of killing. This would be more for idealistic 'police characters' that believe in force, but don't want to kill.

so why even venture to call it a sequal??
surely what you (and everyone else here) wants is a remake of the original Fallout with everything improved (ai, gameplay, graphics)
it seems everyone on this forum is scared of change, if the people who decide to make the game dont think out of the box and try new things then all we will end up with is Fallout 2, a rather hurried and majorly overrated clone.
sorry to refer to the greatest game ever.. UFO: Enemy Unknown, but Fallout seems to have fallen into that same fate.
hopefully if Fallout 3 is ever made they will make a game similar yet advanced to the original ala X-Com Apocalypse.

You know... Scarfed dude, people aren't really afraid of change. They're afraid that because the two previous games were so great and it's grown such a community around them, anything that will become of Fo3 would suck in everyone's opinion. So the safest way to go is not to make Fo3 at all, so everyone can just speculate.

this is an arguement? i think you have trouble reading doyle.
How have i been shown that i am wrong, i am simply trying to share my ideas... some people have a very disruptive nature.
I dont know, why but i thought this was a forum about fallout 3 speculation and suggestion. If people are too short sighted to understand the reasoning of my arguements or the points i raise then, their loss.
is it asking too much for people to focus their posts on the topic??
To be fair the fallout series has already been indellably tarnished by Fallout 2 and Fallout Tactics, the only option is to think alternatly about how to revive this flagging series.

first off... jesus was a popular name around the time of the so called son of god events, secondly there were many 'prophets' at the time claiming to be god, son of god, voice of god...etc. thirdly religion is an evil, corruptive & restraining force that should be wiped from our minds and the earth.
Now theres an idea of the third fallout game, an evil cult threatens to eradicate all 'unpure' life from the face of the earth. Ah but wait thats been done by all major religions

Oh, yay, a religion debate. Everyone loves religion debates!
SBB, innovation and new ideas do not a good game make. Real-time combat was a new idea for Baldur's Gate, and it's shit. If they implement new ideas that don't suck, then I'm all for it. But if they implement new ideas that go against the very core of Fallout, then NO DEAR GOD NO.
