If it's mild, progressive old rock then I'll have to go with Emerson, Lake and Palmer or Jethro Tull.

If it's newer, darker I'll say Tool.

And finally, if it's almost-extreme metal it'll be Metallica (a bit mellow though), Down or Black Label Society.

Also, how about the old blues or rock 'n roll? Like ZZ Top or Chuck Berry?

Of the eight artists you just named, only one isn't a complete embarassment to music. And it's not Metallica.
