The pioneers are dead

Since Bethesda decided to make Fallout 3, we figured we might as well have a forum about it.

I'd be fine if they somehow managed a mode such as the heroes of might and magic games...allowing you to skip the gratuitous and boring cut scenes. To me...if you COULD mod FO3 effectively and fairly easily it COULD be used as a decent delivery platform but at the same time...for whatever reason it just doesn't seem that worth it - having to reprogram much of it, having to change much of the game completely around and alter the atmosphere to the correct feel...modding stalker would probably be easier. Or HL2(from what I understand fairly easy to mod). Bethesda doesn't seem to keen on making the most user friendly tools....

im not a coder so i wouldn't have clue on what the nightmare there may be.

"alter the atmosphere to the correct feel'
what did you personally feel was wrong with it?

I didn't feel it was all that bad , A bit dark at times.

"And where the hell are all of the migrants coming from? It's not as if something new just happened..."

I'm not sure what you mean by that statement.
do you mean migrant tools ? or people like me ?

sorry about that , i try not to be dramatic at all actually
since your an admin here i have a ? for you.

where in this forum should i post for modding in Fallout 3 and or if i even should?
i came to this forum because it was listed on a G.E.C.K. site as
one of the best sites for modding this game "FO3".
However any thread i have seen so far on F03 has been answered
with most negativity to the game.I personally dont want to argue about the
flaws of the game and wish to mod for it for personal pleasure
and or for the FO3 community.

I would like to think that since a lot of sites link here for that purpose
that there would be a modding section here FO3 ,threads on G.E.C.K
usage and the various other tools that are available at the moment and how to use them from basic intro to the tools to in depth development for advanced users.basically a tutorials section.there are a lot of resources out there for people who already no how to use these tools but not really any for the noob if you will and or someone switching over to this game.
even the G.E.C.K site itself starts off there tutorials as if you are already familiar with the basics of the tool by having you jump in and make a level.

in conclusion ,if this is not acceptable in this forum ,can you please direct me to another forum.
I appreciate your time.

Try http://www.fallout3nexus.com/ or http://planetfallout.gamespy.com/

DAC never was a Fallout 3 site to begin with.

Thanks for the links ,very much appreciated.

on your comment:
since other sites link here for FO3, are the Members of this forum willing
to add a section for that purpose? its apparent these sites have a lot
of respect for DAC and that's why they chose to link here.

It's the same forum as the Wasteland Merc forum.

If sites link to us for that, it's through no effort on our part. Why should we be held to do something because another place misrepresented us?

I'm not sure about Fallout3Nexus. Everytime I go there, it seems to have dick firmly in it's mouth and some shitty reskin mod is the most downloaded thing.

And GSA needs more Zig.

I really don't pay that much attention to mods though, short of HL1/2 mods, and random ones that people rave about (usually here ie: Freespace 2 stuff), it's too much hastle sorting the wheat from the chaff so to speak.

With Fallout 3 simply being a terrible game on a terrible dated engine on top of it, I really have very little inclination at all to bother with it.

As for a modding forum, there is one, last time I looked, although it covers all the Fallout games in general. (and mods for non-Fallout games too iirc).

I would like to thank all you for your input.

i checked out both the links given to me and the Nexus seems to have a lot going on there.

I will keep reading on this board for Fallout 1 and tactics modding.

Retlaw83 ,Caleb - glad to have met both and the rest of the DAC gang,
you are a ruthless bunch when it comes to FO3, but your also a pretty cool bunch. For those who come here like i did and take the punches, in the end will walk away a bit more informed and generally be guided to where they needed to go.

for some reason my quote/signature has never shown up so will put it here.its nothing more than a firm belief i have.

That'd be because sigs aren't allowed. Lots of 1 line/1 word/1 smiley posts, etc.
