Cheers mate
It's not as bad as I made it sound like :p
Part time jobs (ie, something like McDonalds) will net you around $8/per hour. Give or take 50 cents. I work once a blue moon doing data entry and get paid about twice as much as that.
Funny story, I decided to beat the demo using only the knife. Good stealth challenge. I succeeded, but not nearly for the reason I expected. Maybe 1 of 10 enemies gets extremely disoriented when you attack with the knife, and will run around pointing in one direction or another. This guy ran around aiming straight up while I killed all his friends.

off topic? OMG YOU'VE BEEN CENSORED... yet you're still posting. MYSTARY!!!!
He bought Far Cry several days ago, and though the demo ran fine when he tries to run the game the splash comes up and then a few seconds later just goes away, and a windows error with the above message is displayed.
Does it happen every time Jet? I can't know specifically what the error is since its their error reporting, but it sounds like the engine is tryign to do something with a texture file that it can't do on your vid card. DDS is a highly compressed format(I use it in phoenix) and I don't know why they're dynamically generating bumpmaps but there you go. You'd be best to upgrade your video card ANYWAY, so start there.
Ha, thanks, that's kind of what I was figuring, but them newfangled vid cards are mighty expensive these days. And yes, it is every time. Haven't been able to get in the game yet.

You two are like an old married couple. Wow.
suppose you're thinking about a plate of shrimp. suddenly somebody will say like 'plate' or 'shrimp' or 'plate of shrimp', out of the blue, no explanation.
Say I have a medium-spec machine (1.3 P4, 512 RAM, Geforce4 4600ti). Does the patch make it so I can use better graphic quality settings than the unpatched game?
I know the patch boosts performance for high-end machines (says so in the documentation), but it doesn't say anything about us mediums. I suppose I could try it and find out myself, but if anyone else has tried it, I'd like to hear what happened.
Well what that means Max, is that on higher end machines that are taking full advantage of the high order pixel and vertex shaders, the patch improves the performance of those GPU calculations. Since you're playing it on lower settings, settings that use lower bit pixel shaders for example, aren't affected.
In other words, patch or no patch, lower settings are the same...it was the higher end shaders that were actually needing the optimizations. Still can't hurt to patch...could be some other things that benefit across the board.
