i think "microbrew" is the word you're looking for, pop that sucker in the micro wave oven for a good 2 minutes and bang, instant noodles just add soy sauce

Local micro-brews hardly ever disappoint, although they can go a bit overboard with their Nutty Fruity Cranberry Wheat Chocolate Winter Honey Porter pretentiousness.

They have names like "Indian Pale Ale" and "Firehouse Red." Though in the case of the latter at the microbrewery I go to, some of the profit it donated to the fire department in town.

indian pale ale is not a brand name though but a type of ale, i think it has more hops and has its roots in the sailor export india mr.teatime colony business or whatever :beerking:

If its a microbrew Indian Pale Ale is probably the name of the product, even though it is an actual type of ale. I think ale itself was invented through sea voyages to India by the British where the lagers would continue to ferment and formed into ale, or something like that.

I haven't had an opportunity to have an ale, yet. What's the difference in taste between that and a lager?

So I took some of that hash oil and smoked it together with some weed in a joint.

Ales tend to, at least in my opinion, have more of a bitter taste (not to be confused with the actual "bitter"). The other important thing is that ales are kept at room temperature.
Both of these factors make them unappealing to me but they are really popular amongst my friends.

It's a lot thicker, and has a stronger taste. With lager I can practically demolish a drink in seconds, ale I tend to drink slower, sat with other brick layers talking about the fanny on page 3 whilst hand rolling a cigarette and watching a group of metrosexuals in shorts play with a ball for 90 odd minutes on a flickery screen hidden behind pipe smoke whilst Sandra, the large breasted/dog faced bar hand wittily retorts to sexual innuendo directed at her by Terry, the old war hero with a limp and a bad eye, that's still a bit raspy in his old age.

Ales are drinks to be enjoyed. Lagers are drinks to get drunk on or as a drink to food.
I'd say stout is a special class of itself. It's lager but so different IMO that it can't be put in that class. edit: or maybe it doesn't have to to be lager at all?

Anyway
Try Hobgoblin Ale. Really aromatic.
Also Ales can also have extra flavors added to them or are made in such a away to allude them.

Room temperature doesn't seem all that appealing to me, honestly.
