I think the only highlight was when the fire alarm went off

Been playing the game for a good while now, only sleeping for 2 hours. I have to say it's pretty fucking goddamn good. I don't know how much you guys bought into the hype but it didn't dissapoint me or fall short in any way. Combat is the most notable improvement, but it's all so fucking improved singling it out is kind of beside the point. Overall as a complete game it is simply impressive. (more when i've played more)
my vocabulary skills is above you.

fucking COMBAT. what about them NON-COMBAT skills? motherfucker do you use them?!
How much RPGing can you do in Oblivion NOT fighting?* How much quest-scoring can you get by diplomacy (also lying), science (or alike), thieving+lockpicking+stealth?
And do you have as rewarding game experience if you pick an evil path?
Also, have you already increased your acrobatics skill by jumping off a bridge? (that was a spoiler, sorry)
some acrobatics sample: (see the whole bit) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=M5klXiq1 ... q%2Ecom%2F
*I've seen this gamespot's Oblivion footage and it's one bloody hack and slash. In this movie, there wasn't a single branching/interesting conversation. Have you experienced the contrary, Aonaran?
Also, the idiot of a sidekick buddy didn't notice a fucking avalanche.
Also, your acrobatics skill increases if you get yourself killed.

The combat may have improved from Morrowind, which isn't really a merit, but it's still far too streamlined and unchallenging(in a tactical sense) for it to be interesting. I didn't quite understand what the character skills have to do with combat, except for the occasional 'Congratulations! You've improved your blocking skill by one point'. Increasing some skills, like acrobatics, allow you to perform new tricks and moves, so what? Other than that, the combat is basically Diablo in first-person. Boring, undemanding and way too superfluous. Or hack and slash, just like PiP mentioned. I don't even want to imagine how ranged combat could be implemented in a way that your character's skills define the outcome(like it should be in an RPG) without making ranged combat all gay like in Bloodlines. Why the fuck would I want to replace the turn-based combat in Fallout with this crap?
The exploration and pwetty gwaphics 'Wow!-effect' wears off pretty soon after the thousandth dead wolf and stupified dialogue.
I want to see this baby on PC so I can comment on the interface. Post some screens or something, Aonaran.

I watched a couple of hours of live gameplay through stream and the highlights video, so yeah I do know how the game plays. I can't comment much on the story and quests, though. Preferably so.S4ur0n27 wrote:Did you actually play it or just talk through your ass?

And talking through my ass only makes my posts tastier.

I think he is talking out his ass, stats play a HUGE roll in your success in combat. At least that has been my experience thus far which extends farther than watching a few minutes of someone else playing who may or may not have know what the fuck they were doing.S4ur0n27 wrote:Did you actually play it or just talk through your ass?
Also on the non combat route the stealth, thievery etc. stuff is also a remarkable. I'd say it's a remarkable improvement over morrowind but I suspect that would only generate snickers, comparing it to morrowind doesn't really fly. I cannot comment on diplomacy etc, since those are not characters I have played yet. So far my focus has been stealth.
