You can buy a basic Blargh to English dictionary for a very reasonable sum, or enrol on a course for Blarghish.

On a more serious note - What do you all think of the new Pope's rule so far? Anyone predicting a crusade/inquisition/new age of free love anytime soon?

The publisher is defunct. They had an accident. Ash is defunct, in a sense, yes ? The course is no longer available, as the lecturer(s) had (an) accident(s) and the source material disappeared. Uneventful, in a word. Hopefully it will persist in being so. I predict an age of (pseudo-benevolent, authoritarian) sentient ice cream. An age where everyone will be blissfully, blissfully, blissfully, blissfully, blissfully happy (or they won't be). Execution by prolonged sorbet headache induced brain freezing will be the norm for 'deviants' and those who have ever consumed the noble ice cream and/or similar once-products-now-rulers-for-life. Except for sorbet. Poor, neglected, discriminated sorbet.

First of all, the Pope has no actual power anymore. All he can do is make statements and give speeches about all things unchristian in the world, just like the previous pope. The fact that the Papacy has no control of the world media, means it has very limited possibitilies to influence us mortals. After all, how many percentage of the civilized world are devout catholics?

But don't get me wrong, I have nothing against crusades/inquisitions and other fun stuff.

You obviously have a very limited and naive view of the world. Lots and lots of Catholics still go to church, and are willing to kill themselves for religion. Just think of Irishmen.

The pope still has power. If he didn't have any, we wouldn't be talking about him for a 7 pages-long thread, we would just ignore him. People care about what he says and is. Just think about the Forum J-P 2 did in Toronto few years ago; People went en masse to listen to him and see him.

Unfortunately, he still has power; so you're wrong.

Well, it depends how you define power. Sure, many people listen to him and share his views. But thinking globally, or even from a western perspective, the majority of people ignore the pope in everyday life. Generalizing the Irish as devout catholics is almost like generalizing them as redheaded drunkards. The pope has a lot of spiritual power among his followers, but he lacks power that can affect the whole world. Powers such as the USA, United Nations, or the whole fucking economic system wield. In the dark ages, Vatican was an influential(although quite passive) political player in Europe, mostly because of strong trust in church of the people. Institutions such as the inquisition would have no chance to operate in the world of today.
