Sure console games get a bad rap. But that's only because there is a torrent of games being developed for them. Just gotta sift through the ashes of the gaming industry to find the real gems. Dead Space is one of those game franchises, seriously. If you don't play 1, 2 and 3 when it drops next year, you'll be missing out on one of the greatest sci-fi horror franchises this era. The story takes place in a not-so-distant 50 years from now, and everything is done believably.

This is one of those games that makes you wonder why you'd go see a POS like Prometheus when you could get ten fold the experience and immersion from a video game. I started playing the first installment last week, and heaps of dead necromorphs, creepy ex girlfriend apparitions and brutal (violent) consequences of failing the mini-games, I was finished. I am full on video game. Thank you Visceral. I think playing anything less tense for a while will just seem dull.

I considered trying dead space, but the whole third person thing and watching some trailers convinced me not to. So I won't.
Can you romance?

Yes. That it's a easy as shit and insultingly (needy girlfriend-style) hand-holdy gore-porn 3rd person Doom 3 with a penchant for AWsOM€ZoRS qtes and spacentology conspiracy. Satisfyingly cathartic, at times, however. But then 1 already as satisfying without all of the above, save for being 3rd Person Doom 3.

It's brilliant, you should try it. It's not so small scale, though you can start small scale by playing a single count. But the fun part is climbing the hierarchy and then staying on top. Also, play with the CK+ mod.

Darth Mod NTW.

Sucks as a strategy game (as do most TOTOTOTOOLAL WAAH installments) but thriving off of tactics this mod has improved the game a bit.

Crusader Kings II excels in the strategy :(not so)Paradox:

You should, so as to explain to us why you had to play on casual mode, and so that we may continue to have faith in your gaming ability.

Also, played D3 again, wish I didn't. Upon further inspection, it has succumbed to the trends of new age gaming, contrived artificial difficulty (why does my wizard have 2700 health when everything 1 shots me?), huge everything (quality is not quantity, I hate walking through these levels, if your gameplay is this one dimensional and boring you usually don't place it under a microscope for 45 minutes until something new), the scope of what happens it is all left up to the player- removing the feeling of being shown someone else's vision, it ends up being what you make it and that's not really fun. I'll go draw something if I wanted to have that much control.

If they ever come through with the PvP patch, I might fire it up again. Although they'll probably fuck that up too. Other than that, I watched a lot of netflix lately. Fucking video games.

Just an FYI : Qasir al-Wasat - A Night in-Between is a very cool experience.

It's vastly superior to the Dead Space franchise. True fact. :drunk:

I'm playing Rebellion's Judge Dredd: Dredd vs Death game. It was their first game right after they finished one of my favorites of all time, Aliens vs Predator. There was a couple years of hype building up to release, too. It's like they did a 180 and decided to make shit for the next decade. I never played Dredd vs. Death before and now I finally know exactly where Rebellion started sucking ass.

This game is SHIT. I guess the closest thing you can compare it to is Quake 2 with zombies and nothing else. The maps are kinda nice if you like futuristic cyberpunk and the skyboxes are cool. Unfortunately, that's all the praise I can give it. Every mission is the same with the same objectives. You either kill a certain number of something, hit a couple switches, or escort a bunch of civilians to a place. The further you get the more you have to do and the AI is retarded. At the beginning you are tasked with arresting people doing stupid stuff like spraypainting walls or looking too european, and quickly turns into a corridor shooter.

The singleplayer campaign is only about 3-4 hours long. But it's so fucking tedious I'm almost a month into this thing and finally reached the last level today. God, I'm pissed. At first glance the maps *look* really cool. Everything turns into the same stupid thing. Rebellion could have had a decent Quake clone if they stuck with that. Or they could have had a pretty good open world thing if they had talent. Instead they took the worst parts of both and mashed them together to create Dredd vs. Death.

Final Score:
2 NOBAMAs out of 10 PRESIDENT ROMNEYs

The only thing you said about dead space that wasn't an opinion was that it is similar to doom3. Ok. So there are undead enemies, it's on a dark space ship. I'll give you that. Doom 3 wasn't even that bad, so what did you really say except that you're blinded by your own conjecture? That doesn't make me want to argue with you, and another "yo mama..." display of e-peenery with some d-bag on the internet isn't much more appealing.

jimmy's mom wrote:so what did you really say except that you're blinded by your own conjecture?
In the parts you're alluding to I said nothing other than that it was a 3rd person Doom 3. The only one blinded here (and by fanboyism) is you in being a presumptuous dunce who's unknowingly projecting his own actual opinion onto something someone else wrote instead of reading what's actually there.

That is- that it's easy, that it's patronising, that it's gratuitous, that it's got qte setpieces that this generation can't get enough of, that it's got space scientologists and conspiracy and that it is sometimes satisfyingly cathartic. If you want to disagree, do. Just don't post inane shit like the quote above and insist on it, and then get all despondent at a level retort.

At least your dismissal of people's opinions on the basis that they're opinions is coherent with your (claimed) unwillingness to argue. It also says a lot about yours. Unless, of course, you're actually a pocket calculator that can't form any.:drunk:

Dead Space is The Thing game in a spaceship. It's literally the same game without NPC followers exploding into monsters at scripted triggers.

Thinking of a good space game have you guys seen Routine? Its a first person rogue-like with perma-death and randomly generated scenarios. If you die you have to start all over, and you have to infiltrate and recover stuff from a moon base. The teaser looks pretty fucking awesome. I'm going to buy it for sure if they don't fuck it up.

I am positive you are an expert on all of those descriptors, don't get me wrong. But here's my view through this window;

I had the right to assume you played on easy mode, because how is one supposed to derive any kind of useful and informative points to argue with in a gentlemanly manner out of that? It's not, that's the point, you tried to troll me and ended up getting your own jimmy ruffled (no pun intended) so you continue to make baseless assumptions and personal attacks on me.

:bored:

My what, now? Er, no. You stated, and I quote:
Shooting yourself off a solar array at xx,xxx miles per hour through a vacuum dodging giant chunks of the beleaguered space station. Need I say more?
...when asked for an opinion by Mismatch. That's not an opinion, that's a description, not unlike any press release. Which is why I tacked on MY opinion on the game after so fortunate a question.

If my opinion of the game is enough to make you mad, that's your problem. Why you choose to take it personally is beyond me, which is why I assumed fanboyism above. Maybe it's that you're unaware that the use of expletives isn't necessarily meant as an insult. That you single out words and present them bereft of meaning and context in an attempt to victimize yourself is also unbecoming. This is DaC you're posting on, after all.

But let's try the former out:

Jimmy, you're shit = ad-hominem
Jimmy, this is easy as shit = ad-gamum

You can tell the difference, can't you?
how is one supposed to derive any kind of useful and informative points to argue with in a gentlemanly manner out of that?
Let's see, how about:

-It's not that easy
-The additional difficulty mode that's locked is the best
-I found it hard
-The difficulty isn't that relevant
-You're right, it is too easy

That enough? Are you clear on this or is it going to drag on like one of those idiotic (however entertaining) Snake vs Whomever episodes?
