Exclusive, early Fallout concept art
Something that is not available to the general population and hard to find even by determined seekers.Kharn wrote:That leaves me to wonder what warrants "extremely rare" (Fallout eXtreme? Eheheeh). Who knows how many people have them...
Perhaps "in sole possession" is a better word for you.Owns? Are you serious? What did he do, buy them at an Interplay yard-sale?
Dictionary.comMy point was it can hardly be schockingly rare if they've been lying around for a year.
rare
Audio pronunciation of "rare" (râr)
adj. rar·er, rar·est
1. Infrequently occurring; uncommon: a rare event; a plant that is rare in this region.
2. Excellent; extraordinary: a rare sense of honor.
3. Thin in density: rarefied: rare air.
You missed my point.And I don't usually repost years-old things, unless there's new things to add. That's why we call it "news", not "reminder notes"
You missed my point.Fallout 1 has been out of production now longer than VB has. Logically then VB concept art is fresher than Fallout 1 concept art.
Doesn't mean it's not interesting, though, because it is. Like Odin said somewhere on NMA, we post all concept art etc., be it Fallout 1, 2, Tactics or Van Buren, as we get it.

Hmm. Ausir told me that they were scanned in exclusively for SAD by a Polish person he knew. I guess NMA took them from SAD when Ausir first put them up.Kharn wrote:Fallout 1 has been out of production now longer than VB has. Oh, that reminds me, I forgot to draw your attention to this:

We've had those pics since May 2004 now. I'd like to ask a favour and have the terms "extremely rare", "exclusive" and "nowhere else on the internet" removed from that newsposts, since they're all...well...not true?

There are more Polish people in the world than Ausir knows, I'm afraid. Odin's had them on his computer for a while. Since they were scanned from a Polish magazine, I assume anyone could've scanned and published them. Dunno if Odin got them from there or from SAD and, quite frankly, it's irrelevant, since nobody has any rights to them except the original publisher/the Polish mag.Mr. Teatime wrote:Hmm. In any case, unless you want to discuss the right of NMA to have these pictures in our gallery with Odin I do with stress request that you remove those parts from your newsposts that make claims that are not true and that you know not to be true. It makes DaC look bad, y'know
PS: Artur, I'm sorry, I snipped most of the post since they're bullshit arguments anyway, what with NMA also having them. Sorry.

Or the other way around, whatever happened, they were up on SAD before DaC, they were up on NMA before DaC. How many other Fallout sites are there, that would have to have them before they're not considered rare, or exclusive anymore?Mr. Teatime wrote:Hmm. They were posted at NMA ages ago by a polish guy, and i had already seen a couple of them a few years back, Dove is right. They are still cool though, and the others at NMA that came from devs are nice too.
Still i like this competition, it motivates people to dig even more stuff and that´s good for the community, but a bit of checking on the facts from Ausir in the future would be advisable too.

Hardly a competition. NMA will get far more exclusive VB stuff than us which I expect will continue be 'leaked' for a good while yet, for instance, because that's the way things are done right now. The trick is not to care, and it's not such a big deal because we are clearly not 'one' community, as the sites have different audiences and tastes.Briosafreak wrote:They were posted at NMA ages ago by a polish guy, and i had already seen a couple of them a few years back, Dove is right. The point is that NMA has grown stale and relies increasingly on exclusive content to attract the new visitors, while DAC has been undergoing massive improvements to remain interesting, and that is more deserving of a praise than questionable favoritism from the developers towards NMA, which was rolling downhill ever since Miroslav stopped administrating it.
NMA staff's attempts to ridicule, suppress, and dismiss any suggestion that DAC provides superior material is what some people around here see as stupid, reactionary, and plain childish, which is somewhat disappointing to me personally as a person who was NMA forum regular for years.

My opinion exactly. We're in the clear now, as far as I'm concerned, no need to drag this on any further.Retlaw wrote:Eh, what's the big deal? Original newspost had factual errors, the errors have been changed and now everything's square.
Thanks, Teatime.

extremely rare concept art from early in <em>Fallout</em>'s development that he recieved last year from someone called <strong>Deadlus</strong>. <br />
<br />
These
pictures were drawn probably sometime in 1996, and scanned in from a Polish magazine of the same year.<br />
<br />
<div align="center"><a href="http://www.duckandcover.cx/gallery/disp ... -656"><img border="0" src="http://www.duckandcover.cx/gallery/albu ... b_ovsr.png" /></a> <a href="http://www.duckandcover.cx/gallery/disp ... -659"><img border="0" src="http://www.duckandcover.cx/gallery/albu ... mb_if2.png" /></a> <a href="http://www.duckandcover.cx/gallery/disp ... -657"><img border="0" src="http://www.duckandcover.cx/gallery/albu ... rpheus.png" /></a> <a href="http://www.duckandcover.cx/gallery/disp ... -658"><img border="0" src="http://www.duckandcover.cx/gallery/albu ... _iface.png" /></a><br />
</div>
<br />As you can see, both the Overseer and Morpheus are drawn. I'm not
sure what the triangle image is supposed to be, and I think the
box-thing is a drawing of the interface (which I hope is retained in
some form in <em>Fallout 3</em>). These pictures are not available anywhere else on the internet as far
as Ausir knows, and they're a lot more interesting than concept art
from <a href="http://wiki.duckandcover.cx/index.php?t ... Buren">Van Buren</a>.<br />
<br />
Thanks again <strong>Ausir</strong>.<br />
<br />
Update: the art apparently isn't as rare as first thought; it's been
established the pictures have been on a few other sites as well.<br />
dude, aren't those pics from the nma archives?
I think the illuminati pyramid might have something to do with the fact that Fallout was originally based on GURPS (a lot of the other concept art has "GURPS" written on it). Anyway, the illuminati pyramid was the logo of Steve Jackson games (the makers of GURPS)... as I recall. Might have something to do with it.
suppose you're thinking about a plate of shrimp. suddenly somebody will say like 'plate' or 'shrimp' or 'plate of shrimp', out of the blue, no explanation.
