Apart from being good in Blade Runner and having a cool name, what did he do?

It's not like his role in Sin City was tough.

it was "The
Hitcher " and there was also something for post-apoc geeks:
The Blood of Heroes , the teenage flick
Blind Fury and an appearance in
Batman Begins but, needless to say, Blade Runner was Hauer's best role, largely due to the film being so good.

Blade Runner is easily one of the best movies. It tends to make everything else look like shit without even trying.
I miss the good ol' USSA.

you're obviously mistaking the order, but cheesy - never said it wasn't; on the contrary, I called it a 'teenage flick' from which you were to infer my judgement of its value.

Zatoichi started in the 60s dude, did about 30 movies and were dead in their graves before Hauer and Takeshi showed up to pimp it out their remakes.

Most overrated movie ever. Yes, I've watched it.

Takeshi Kitano's Zatoichi is actually better than the originals, IMHO.

It was much better than some - but he pretty much stuck to the old formula. It's kind of like Jim Jarmusch doing a Rocky movie.

I thought you
were refering to the remake as a potential Blind Fury's predecessor.
I didn't know Zatoichi was known well enough before the 'remake' to influence Hollywood movies (Blind Fury was Hollywood, right?)
I guess you may be right.
