By the gist of it, you've not yet* been on either receiving end of drug (in this instance, hash) induced psychosis. Any alteration to 'normal' brain chemistry holds potential for disaster. 'Tis both the failing and triumph of the individual. No melodrama.

The comparison between alcohol and other intoxicants and their respective threat and risk levels is no where near as simplistic as you suggest.
