Play in sandbox mode, you can turn off all the micromanagement there.

I wouldn't say it was a rehash of the first one. The stock market worked the way it was supposed to and you could do some pretty neato financial moves. It definitely added another dimension to the game. Also, the graphical look was very functional and resembled a miniature railroad in a world scale despite a few interface glitches. I enjoyed the campaign mode very much, not to mention some excellent user-created maps I downloaded. I've only read negative reviews of RT3 so far; it being a failed rehash of RT2 with 3D view.

Ah, I've found a patch which should make it work under WindowsXP.
