You call yourselves a Fallout community, just accepting that as promising? All it shows is that Bethesda think they know Fallout, and clearly don't. And if that pie is supposed to be a football, it shows that they clearly don't know football either.

So what the fuck is so promising about it? It's got badly proportioned Vault Boy, and a stereotypical '50s American family at a picnic. What the hell's that got to do with the future? Or preparing for it? It has all the hallmarks of Bethesda's willingness to accept the bare minimum, and also their finely honed talent for completely missing the point.

Anyway, I thought I'd delurk again, since Fallout 3 is beginning to shape up, and we need as many angry voices of bitter reason as possible.

You sound like you are or should be posting/spamming/flaming on the tes forums.

At least drop a few tubgirls there.

We're not saying it's great, we're just saying that it's good that they're at least aware of the "future of the 50s" theme. In that respect, it sure beats anything we've seen for FOT and FOBOS, and the Van Buren art also wasn't very 50sh. The game will probably still suck, though.

It doesn't surprise me that they've chosen a 50's nuclear family/whatever theme in their propaganda poster as I do expect them to put a little more thought on the setting than Chucky Cuevas and his team. The setting probably is going to be more 50ish than in Fallout 2. Anyway, that's not important. What's important is that the information value of that poster is zero, so there's really no reason to get optimistic. It's probably just the fact that it's 'Fallout 3!' and 'official poster!' that brings some warmth to our corrupted souls.

We'll have to wait for the first world exclusive PC Gamer wankfes... err, preview before the flaming commences. :)

I always hoped that DU would get to have his wankfest first with all the nice questions we have supplied...
We deserve that at least.

I totally agree, but there's also no reason to get pessimistic.

There's no screenshots, no game information.

However, the poster looks good. Lets hope it's not misleading.

We haven't posted this at RPGCodex because a) honestly who gives a shit, it's just a poster? and b) RPGCodex only covers PC RPGs, so we can't really post this until we can be sure that Fallout 3 will, in fact, be an RPG and on the PC.
How appropriate. You fight like a cow.

Even the Bethsoft fanboys over at the TES forums don't think Bethsoft can pull off a descent Fallout ( unhollylink1 and unhollylink2). This poster looks nice and all, and I'll admit that it excites me a little, but I can't play it.
I have returned! (again)

If we had other stuff to cover, I'm sure this would be a sidenote at best. But, given the amount of Fallout news over the past 2 years, this counts as a major story. And, the poster doesn't feature thong babes which is a step away from FOBOS.

And off topic: Aptyp what the fuck is up with your avatar? It looks familiar.

I meant that this poster doesn't offer anything new that would gives us good reasons to be pessimistic about FO3. I didn't mean we shouldn't be, regarding only the present facts that we know about it :drunk:

Well, it is entirely legitimate news for a Fallout fansite, but not as interesting for a general RPG site.

The way the guy is holding the football and how the other guy is in stance kinda looks like a charlie brown or flintstones type cartoon but with realistic people. I can see it now, the guy with the football speeds up with a cloud of dust behind him while his upper body doesnt move. It's a bit of a different art direction
