I'll probably be around until July. Then I'm off for a few months and back again in September. I have shit to do.

There's no such thing as consoles anymore mangs. It's all compact and appropriately handicapped pc's with remotes. If you find yourself buying one, I suggest you seek medical aid, as 2/10 console buyers may not just be morons, but also victims of severe brain hemorrhage.

Yes because spending 1500$ less on a machine that'll play the games you want to is absolutely insane! :joy:

If you want a toy that lasts two years, for half the price of a good multitool -- fine by me. Just don't say it's "the smart thing to do".

BIAS ALERT BIAS ALERT :revolution:
Who said anything about doing away with the multi tool? and half the price? You find me a PC out of the box that will play Oblivion smoothly for 1000$ ... go for it.

all I'm saying is that instead of spending the 500$ to update my pc every 2-3 years. I'll buy the console instead. I still have my PC! Except I use it as a PC! instead of a gaming machine. I do my bills, I get my work done, I surf the net, I get my music, digital photos, etc. It's all intact!

But now I don't have to worry about upgrading my ram or my vid card every time some shitbag game dev has a wet dream about minigun particle fx. Understand the benefit thar?

You can't play Supreme Commander on the console, case closed.

RexEx/SolIn/SpineKick is making/did make a fan site for Supreme Commander, it is assured to suck. Case closed.

Realistically, I can see both sides to the arguement.
Both have their advantages and disadvantages.

My one problem with the console is the cost of purchase and then buying all the following games I would want.

With the computer, I can just steal the games I want.
Case closed for me.

Even idiot is sometimes right.

Well, my old amd xp2k4 played Oblivion smoothly, and I got that for less than 1000$ ( well, 300$ less ) four years ago. Same goes for my new rig, 700$ amd64 3k4 MMP, and the only complaints I have are about XP64 so there ya go.
Killzig wrote:all I'm saying is that instead of spending the 500$ to update my pc every 2-3 years, I'll buy the console instead.
Well fucking la-di-da. No hey, do your thing alright, I'll just stick around with my thing. See, I like having backwards compability all the way back to 95 ( possibly beyond ) and still a bright outlook for the future, something you don't have with consoles. Not to mention that there's more than one ( gosh ) type of console, it'd be nuts buying em' all -- and if you're not, hey, you're missing out.
Killzig wrote:I still have my PC! Except I use it as a PC, instead of a gaming machine.I do my bills, I get my work done, I surf the net, I get my music, digital photos, etc. It's all intact!
Sounds like you've been accusing yourself, mango. Well, listen, that's all fine and dandy - but what about piracy?
Killzig wrote:But now I don't have to worry about upgrading my ram or my vid card every time some shitbag game dev has a wet dream about minigun particle fx. Understand the benefit thar?
What, that you don't have to worry? You don't need a console to chill the fuck down, man, you just need a good set of lungs capable of taking deep breaths, and the ability not to fucking buy into every minigun particle fx game that hits the shelves.

Worrying about games man, fine I'll hook like a nice little fishy there, and ask; what about the long term support, I mean, do consoles ever get a game that lasts a fucking lifetime? I've never seen one, beyond perhaps replaying Tekken 3 after five years of, well, not playing Tekken 3 -- and that's not it. No modding, no prodding, a few days and they're DEAD.

What about the market? You have now joined a market composed mostly by a bunch of pre-pube nimrods with middleclass parents, and thus the game market is aimed mainly at them -- meaning, shit games. I'm not saying all the games are shit, I'm saying you're going to pick handfuls out of bucketloads -- like you did (RS: Vegas, GRAW, Mass Effect, Bioshock, FO3). While we pc-elitists do that too, we at least have a system that allows us to try out the full versions of potentially crappy games for 0$ the cost, we can zone in on nonstandard/foreign games or just do what the hell we want.

I don't know man, I've never in my life heard any moaning about upgrading your pc that wasn't coming out of a retarded mouth, so I just don't know.

Gameboy is a handheld console, that's different.

Out of the box? Did you miss that bit of my question?
Well fucking la-di-da. No hey, do your thing alright, I'll just stick around with my thing. See, I like having backwards compability all the way back to 95 ( possibly beyond )
I can play those games on my PC or better yet on all my old consoles. Tee!
and still a bright outlook for the future, something you don't have with consoles.
I don't? OH NO APOCALYPSE NOW!!!
Not to mention that there's more than one ( gosh ) type of console, it'd be nuts buying em' all -- and if you're not, hey, you're missing out.
Not really, I chose the XB because the games library had more of a PC gaming flavor. I'm sure that line is going to get your panties in a bunch but here, there it is.
Sounds like you've been accusing yourself, mango.
Accusing myself of what exactly? Having better shit to do on my PC? Yeah. Definitely.
Well, listen, that's all fine and dandy - but what about piracy?
For games? Not really interested in that anymore. I have a yob and I've always been very selective about what I play.
What, that you don't have to worry? You don't need a console to chill the fuck down, man, you just need a good set of lungs capable of taking deep breaths, and the ability not to fucking buy into every minigun particle fx game that hits the shelves.
See above.
Worrying about games man, fine I'll hook like a nice little fishy there, and ask; what about the long term support, I mean, do consoles ever get a game that lasts a fucking lifetime?
I still play Marble Madness on my NES. Biatch.
I've never seen one, beyond perhaps replaying Tekken 3 after five years of, well, not playing Tekken 3 -- and that's not it. No modding, no prodding, a few days and they're DEAD.
Usually I don't bother playing games again until it's been a long while. A mod/"fan patch" that modifies stats on a few weapons and opens up a side quest doesn't really spark my interest enough to slog through 10 hours of gameplay that are basically the same. And TCs that are actually worth the effort are few and far between. Just not my cup of tea.
What about the market? You have now joined a market composed mostly by a bunch of pre-pube nimrods with middleclass parents,
:joy: Yay for stereotyping. I think the curry has gotten to your brain you dot headed leper.
and thus the game market is aimed mainly at them -- meaning, shit games.
You make it sound as if PC gamers could develop some utopian society. :joy: Hell, the majority of the PC market these days are MMORPG-treadmill running drooling idiots. Either way, the bottom line is you don't have to interact with anyone else.
I'm not saying all the games are shit, I'm saying you're going to pick handfuls out of bucketloads -- like you did (RS: Vegas, GRAW, Mass Effect, Bioshock, FO3).
As opposed to what I was doing with PC gaming which was picking one or two a year over a handful.
While we pc-elitists do that too, we at least have a system that allows us to try out the full versions of potentially crappy games for 0$

Live's got demos now too, ZOMG!
the cost, we can zone in on nonstandard/foreign games or just do what the hell we want.
Right, nonstandard games with lower system requirements that I can still play on my PC.
I don't know man, I've never in my life heard any moaning about upgrading your pc that wasn't coming out of a retarded mouth, so I just don't know.
Of course you don't know, you're a drooling idiot. That's why I'm taking the time to explain, I'm a charitable bastard like that. :pelvic_thrust:

The lower cost argument in consoles is becoming increasingly irrelevant, because to play Oblivion or whatever like the mack pimp daddy you are, they expect you to blow eighty kajillion dollars on an HDTV bigger than a football field so you can really see Patrick Stewart's nosehairs and then more cash on a super fancy sound system. So yeah, obviously, you can hook up your Xbox to a cheap TV and still jack off to Capt. Picard, but similarly you can buy a somewhat cheaper PC to play fancy games on at lower settings. The end result is the same: it doesn't look so fancy, but it runs.
