wait a sec, I forgot CoCthulhu: DCotE was released this year (or wasn't it?) - this game is rather good.
Except it turns too-much generic shooter halfway through.

But regardless some moments are truly thrilling - especially the chase after you've been attacked in your sleep - this one's a gem in the gaming-experience domain.

I've sadly been a bit disappointed in Gear of War, the game play isn't that great. You just cover and try to pick of bad guys, there isn't much interactivity with the environment and no real hardcore good parts in the game. Just the same thing over and over. Also your AI teammates are incredibly dumb and will constantly get stuck or stand out in the open but you can just let them die and they will respawn next to you if you hit a check point either way. I was hoping for kick assness on the same level of RE4 but I haven't felt it yet.

The games I remember this year..

Prey, Titan Quest, HOMMV, Battlefield 2xxx something..

None of these were impressive.

I will however remember 2006 for the year where I finally got System Shock 2 to work properly.

Oh yeah, sorry bout that. Urban Dead. At least my memory has gone to shite with the beginning of this year. Specially today. I've pretty much forgotten everything I needed to do, or placed. Even managed to make espresso without water...ended up frying a seal with that trick.

If I live through this day...it will be a god damn miracle.

lol I had an espresso accident, too.

Well not really espresso - I used a moka pot.
I forgot to put the metal filter back in the upper part (I hardly ever remove it but my friend did, which I didn't notice).
When the water started to boil, it pumped the coffee into the funnel, which got blocked this way.
The boiling water gradually increaed pressure until it reached the point when it was enough to blow the coffee blocking the funnel.
You know what happened then.
The coffee exploded into my face and all over the walls (and it's a large weed.
I had so much coffee under my eyelids I couldn't open them and couldn't see shit.
fortunately, (Blargh reads: unfortunately) the coffee got chilled before it reached my eyes as it sprayed through the air, so I didn't get hurt - I only had to wash my eyes. But for a second there I thought I'm blind.

Tomorrow I'm going to my friend's place to help him paint the weed or whatever. Too bad it's been recently redecorated D:

The last year kinda sucked for PC games. Probably the worst in memory. What's coming out in the near future? Maybe Spore. Hellgate London and Supreme Commander have a slight chance of being good. I'm happy playing old games.

Lately I've been addicted to Sven Coop for the original Half Life. There's a new plugin for it that adds experience and levels with skills. If anyone plays look for me on the NetLANd server. Their ISP has been acting weird the past few weeks, though.

http://panzergeneral2.com/ had a free legal release on the companies official website. That was best thing in 2006 when it comes to gaming.

Same here. Well I haven't managed to do that, but once I accidentally forgot the seal for it...basically all the water came out before reaching the coffee. Nice little steam engine effect...
