The new Close Combat is pretty fun. If you don't feel like paying $40, the Afrika 40-41 mod for CC5 is fine aswell.

Aye, it's a remake of CC3(Eastern Front and not some stupid Normandy). There's no boxed version yet, but you can download it at Matrix.

ehue, I'll get it when it comes wioth a box.

CC3 was the best one. I made a custom map and scenario for it once, I wonder if it'll work with the remake....

Wow, they're selling it 59.99 CDN $ for the boxed version, and 47.99$ for the download.

How in hell can you sell an 8 year old games 60 bucks?

VasikkA, you actually bought it?

Just got hold of Medieval 2, which is pretty kick ass. They took the best of Medieval and Rome.

I'm playing France :aiee: But I'm not such a big fan of the battles; I'm rather more interested in the other part of the game : building your empire, diplomacy, princesses, cardinals burning heretics, etc.

I still enjoy some battles once in a while though usually if I play one it's because I don't have much units and wanna win with the less casualties possible.

You read my mind D: I played with Spain, because there's more interesting stuff towards the end of the game... Spain's got the toughest firearm units and the most advanced tech when it comes to that stuff... plus finding America is kinda Spain's responsibility, you know.

I like France's mounted units. But I seem to always end up being invaded by Milan and the Holy Empire, and when I'm starting to win over them, the fucking Brits come and screw everything :(

I guess I'll need to send my princesses over to England D:

lol

Yellow territories are Spain's, including Cuba. Her allies are Byzantine (purple) and Russia (blue with red borders). I'm at war with Poland (gray), Denmark (red with white borders), Aztecs (light blue) and Scotland (blue with white borders).

Musketeers are total ownage on battlefield. They can be produced fast and cheap, plus they aren't really expensive to maintain. A rowful of these is good enough defense against most close-combat and ranged infantry. Only the toughest heavy cavalry's powerful enough to kill them, actually.

That was just off the top of my head, in no particular order... and I forgot the obvious: Fallout series.

But be my guest to arrange your own list however.

Medieval 2 is decent... it just seems like more of the same after Rome and Barbarian. Company of Heroes is pretty good if you're into that. Galactic Civilizations II was a huge disappointment.

I think they didn't change a single bit about the world map from Rome: Total War, actually... It looks identical to me.

Didn't they add Americas or the moon or something?
