and on that japanimesque flick about the two alchemist brothers in the old Germany/Austria.. (what's it's title?)
Metropolis: It's good, great backgrounds, but you might be put off by the Astroboy-style character design (short guys with gigantic noses). Nice music but kind of incoherent story.

Recommendo:
Kemonozume - kickass weird art style like Cat Soup, monster hunters

Mushishi - beautiful art, nice story, magical

I heard a lot of good things about Mushishi, I'm looking for torrents of it, but do you know which are in english?

As for Kemonozume... I'm kinda turned off by series.

I am watching the Beserk series currently, its pretty good so far, the gay elv Griffith or something fits perfect in this role. I like how they harass some towns and the use of tactics. I think at episode 10 it`ll turn out to be Super Sajajin like every anime.

Wrong and you suck dicks for even thinking that.

I confess, you were right, the watched episodes(till 11) are still awesome. Unfortunatley, i have a feeling, that i want to ride on a horseback, too and kill some stuff on the battlefield. Also this one musictrack is quite catchy. (it goes like: Iah Uh Oh Au Uh... probably not, but somehow else)

Incidentally, I watched Steamboy yesterday, but I fell asleep in the middle of it.
Admittedly, this is a good anime movie, and I would not say this it is overly childish. It is watchable and, as such, recommended even if you are not a raving anime fan (like me).

Though it is slightly over two hours long.

I will have to set some time aside later today and finish watching the whole thing.
S4ur0n27 wrote:Metropolis is really really great. And very different from most anime movies.

I've heard of Full Metal Alchemist often, but never got to watch them; it looks a bit childish.

I can't really suggest anything new, just the usual good anime movies; all of Studio Ghibli(Spirited Away, Mononoke, etc..) Akira, Jin-Roh, Metropolis, Ninja Scroll... there must be a few others.

It seems with anime movies it's either all good or all bad.
Wtf?! Did you just write more than one line of text in one post!?

P.S.

As far as I remember, Jin-Roh is not exactly steampunk... and neither is Ninja Scroll or Akira...

P.P.S.

I am considering watching Full Metal Alchemist, but it seems, for some strange reason, that well-seeded anime torrents (not all anime, of course) are hard to find! Could anyone point me in the direction of a reputable anime tracker, please?

P.P.P.S.

What do you experts think of Fist of the North Star?

I wasn't suggesting steampunk movies, asshole, just random anime movies worth watching.

Long, kinda generic by todays standards, and kinda like the precursor to Dragonball Z, yet it's still pretty awesome in some ways. It's the cornerstone "Guy" anime and is definetly much more serious then most. Supposibily the new OVAs were good, so if you're interested in the series, check them out since they're pretty new (2004). The animated movie is also apperently a good place to start.
