Is the main character even black? And will his son play in it as well?

He narrates and never mentions his race although he does live in Compton or something. I saw him as a very white guy. His son is playing the role of the dog.

well for one thing they're going to completely dehumanize the vampires, make Will Smith a traditional "hero" character and completely gut the main theme of the novel. In other words, they're going to give it ye ole bethsoft treatment. Awesome. :pelvic_thrust:

Too much CGI. Too fucking much CGI. What I LOVED about THE OMEGA MAN was that all the shots were pure and well done without the editing on soulless digital automatons.

The mutants will be CGI, the city will be edited, CGI CGI CGI CGI CGI!!!!!!!! DESU!

I'd rather have more CGI at the expense of Will Smith.

Hm. I hate him too with his "look I'm black and I want you to know it" attitude and his black skin and black ancestors and whatnot.

Maybe they could digitally paint him a white skin and alter his voice too, so you'll actually give a fuck about the main character.

I prefer Vincent Price in "The Last Man on Earth" (1964).

The original film for the novel.

What the fuck? A 2006 mustang? D: Why do they need to adapt every fucking piece of litterary brilliance to today's era?

Man, if I hadn't read the novel yet, I might think this movie looked good.

The commericals and trailers are nothing like the book.

And I am pretty sure the book denotes that the main character is white.
I also figure the fact that a depressed man who drinks and listens to music wouldn't make for a great movie.

I'd watch it, but people don't make movies for me.

I kinda thought that as well, but I figured it wasn't that much of an issue as much as them changing the book around to fit the movie. Still, it might be good?

Party in the city and the heat is on, all night on the beach 'till the break of dawn...

The trailer has me intrigued. I might see this.

Speaking of post-apoc stuff, has anyone read The Road by Cormac McCarthy? I thought about picking it up. It won the Pulitzer.

Are you kidding?! Subhuman, get up immediately and run, don't walk, to the nearest bookstore that has a copy. You'll love it. From one PA fan to another.

P.S. I saw the trailer yet again and wow, what a great way to ruin a good movie about the end of the world. Put Will Smith in it.. just what the fuck? No way am I going to that piece of shit movie. I find his acting intolerable. If they had gone with someone with a more mellow style it might be tolerable, but Will Smith and his over the top blackness just give me a fucking headache. I'll wait for the Road but odds are they'll fuck up the casting of that one too. Probably get Ice Cube to play the father and Lil Bow Wow as the son, and just for good measure they'll throw in a female lead to fall in love with Ice Cube.... maybe Beyonce. And I'm sure they'll pussy out on the roasted baby.
