aonoran: bashing blade runner is such a film student thing to do (my pasty-faced film nerd of a brother does it a lot for instance) - you're not one of those, are you? :gnasher:

i have to agree brade runnah's story does wear a bit thin with repeated viewings - though from a purely visual standpoint, what film is more respectable?

Hoho, seems like someone else also thinks that BR is boring. But I think Aonaran just does it to be pretentious.
Sean Young was superhot though in that movie.

Jes Jes, I dislike pretentious films for the pretentious glory of it. I am revealed. It is now my turn to dual wield our avian friends and also cry in the rain...

Seriously though, if you want to see Sci-fi done right watch Robocop. It's got it's social commentary in there without hitting you over the head with Thor's mallet of symbolism. I'm kind of surprised so many are coming to the defense of Blade Runner, I always thought it was kind of artfag.

Robocop ? Ahahaha, now I know you jest. Though the Truth of this matter, matters not. Either way - the provision of laughter.

The years, how do they melt ? :drunk:

The search for identity in the military industrial complex? Robocop deals with alot while never losing it's entertainment value. I don't deny the sequels were shit but Frank Miller can eat a dick, Verhoeven did more with that source material than Robert Rodriguez has with his entire career.

I've seen things you people wouldn't believe..The flight of a half-man half-bird. Cookies on dowels..so many moments, lost..like eggs off of a hooker's navel..time to die..

I probably wouldn't have even disliked Blade Runner if it didn't have so many eye-rolling one-liners, monologues and clique imagery. I dunno, it just shouted "I'M DEEP! TAKE ME SERIOUSLY!" without really saying a whole lot. If it was just what it was and said what it had to say without all the pretense it would have kicked ass (Alien). Instead it presented itself as the ultimate achievement in Science Fiction film and to me it just came across as arrogant and unwarranted.

yeah I kinda get this impression too; I gotta re-watch BR to really comment on this though.
