Suppose that (i) p is true or p is false and (ii) not-p is true or not-p is false.
Then p is true or not-p is true.
Now suppose that in 1900 one person says that a sea-battle will take place on 1/1/2100, and another says that a sea-battle will not take place on 1/1/2100.
Then either what the first person says is true or what the second person says is true.
But, in that case, either it is necessary in 1900 that a sea-battle takes place on 1/1/2100, or it is necessary in 1900 that one does not take place.
But the date of the predictions is irrelevant, and it is irrelevant whether any prediction is actually made at all.
So it is necessary at all times that a sea-battle takes place on 1/1/2100, or that a sea-battle does not take place on 1/1/2100.
HA! oh complex questions/principle of the excluded middle. So much we will never understand about our language/the logic behind it...
Ok...first off, not going to target the porn, the movies, or the other things that i believe are actually symptomatic of what is truly troubling the country. It seems that we're in a longer cycle of decline/reaching a self destructive tendency the greeks enjoyed(birth of tragedy ftw)/ hopelessly lost in a meaningless struggle that most will never escape.
My first suggestion is to turn off your tv/avoid advertising like the plague. i have a fucking phobic hatred of advertising for many reasons, mainly it will plug into your brain the idea of how things are or should be. also on the conspiracy banter note, ended up ranting at a friend about this...everyone knows all emails/cell calls/etc are recorded/checked by the gov, right? No clue what we can all really do against this...i used to predict a revolution but i am starting to sadly think that the masses are fat and happy to lean back and take it up the ass until they die. Everyone is fat, happy, and comfortable as well as being told to ignore the moral framework of the world they live in.
oh and dogmeat, RIGHT ON for the criticism of american pie and such. I would actually say that those movies, along with all the teenybopper horse shit that i've never watched, have probably done more damage than any of the porn in the world. Porn at least, automatically has a dirty connotation that one inherently knows does not relate to the world around them. Those movies though, show pretty much the same shit in an okay and encouraged social setting where most of the audience can see themselves and emulate the same interaction. Same goes for shit shows like friends. everyone aims to become the characters, everyone is told its okay and the right thing to be depraved. Funny how they'll criticize GTA and anything that might make someone violent, but if you're a woman and it makes you a submissive whore its the best thing since sliced bread [/rant]

What type of discussion were you guys just having? Would it be classified as philosophy or maybe sociology? I just want to make sure I never take those classes because I barely understood a thing you guys said and I hope i'm not alone.
Anyways I saw the Zohan movie tonight and it was okay, probably the better of Sandler and co's latest movies that don't come to mind. They did try to put in a message throughout the movie (OMG PROPAGANDA). It was also a bit tiring of seeing sandler thrust his hips around old and saggy women.

Everything you watch nowadays is either propaganda or steered by it in some way. You wont stop it so you might as well just ignore it and make sure your family does not buy into it. And if the jews and arabs want a punch up which they will have (there WILL be nuclear war in the middle east) then as far as i am concerned the planet is emptier and slightly more radioactive than before and right now i say nuclear winter FTFW.
These dumb cunts have been killing one another for thousands of years i think they should hurry up and be done with it.
it is horrible that this is happening but this is a freight train that has been speeding up towards a mountainside for a thousand years you cant stop it.
next thing we will get is Fallout : Middle East. irl.

I think its both... not sure. If they teach propaganda in schools, that would be the class to avoid.
The most obvious capitalist propaganda I can think of would be those television shows where they show the lives of celebrities and announce how much they spend on purses and shoes.
The purpose of these shows is to make people (mostly women) feel like they need to buy expensive shit to be fulfilled. Of course thats the general message you get whenever you turn on the tube, but those shows are blatant.
Its not smart to allow women to watch that shit. They become more restless and less content in their place in society. Then we wonder why the divorce rate goes up. Media has a much larger impact on us than we think. Hitler once said something like, give me control of film and television and I will control the world.
I wish I could find exact quote. Anyway, now I'm just ranting. When I think about having kids I sometimes think about how much I will limit their access to tv, movies, videogames, etc.. On one hand I believe it would help them to grow into healthier people mentally, and probably physically, but on the other hand I think that large scale media like Blockbuster movies, popular television shows, popular music, have become our largest social connection to one another.
If a young person isn't connected, doesn't have a myspace, doesn't know the newest Usher song, hasn't seen the new Iron Man movie, then there is a social handicap for them.
In school I would say that I was one of those kids who was addicted to the pop culture thing. I watched alot of tv, saw alot of the new movies, and was more concerned about that shit than with school. I found out the hard way that the kids who don't concern themselves with that shit, or at least limit the concerning, turn out achieving more in the traditional sense of achievement.
So I think its important for parents to really limit the crap that their kids have access to. I have a friend who's little brother, maybe 11 now, has every popular video game for Wii, PS3, XBox. He has all GTAs, Madden games, and even those Def Jam fighting games. I wonder if he'll even be able to concentrate on a Dr. Seuss book when he is 20. I have no doubt that he'll be a cooperative consumer though.

Also : Death solves all problems - no man no problem -Joseph Stalin.

I have it on exceptional, indisputable authority that Stalin always preferred to play quoits, than to quote random neckbeards electric from The Year Two Thousand And Eight.

make a movie review thread - I am leaving in ten minutes to see it, and it would've been great if you would've made a review so I could've thought about it before I bought tickets online already....
