Well they did the same thing with Dawn of War, although to a lesser extent. Want to play Imperial Gaurd in Multiplayer? Time to buy Winter Assault. Sisters of Battle? Soulstorm. Wanna play Space Marines? Better make sure you kept that fucking install code for the first DoW, otherwise you can't play a race that you can play in the single player games.Smiley wrote:Sounds weird that you shouldn't be able to patch the first ones =/
They're probably too poor to hire a lead developperSt. Toxic wrote:It's just stupid. Games don't "get out of hand" big, in need of being split up into segments; usually they're too short, no matter how much work has been put into making them. If you need to make a trilogy to balance 3 races in an rts, you're... no sorry, you don't need to make a trilogy to balance 3 races in an rts whatever you are and whatever happened during development.
And especially not when it's a sequel to a game that already has certain established guidelines to how things will pan out. Development teams have a guy on staff who looks out for this kind of shit, he's called the lead developer; these "issues" are dealt with during the early idea stages, like punching people in the throat when they get ideas that would take eons to implent.
The fact that Blizz is presenting it as a last minute glitch in the development, like "Oops apparently we made the game too big and the races are completely unbalanced!" just goes to show that their intentions are dishonest. Only retarded MR Snake clones can possibly get fooled by these moneygrubbing theatrics.

isn't that exactly what they did with Starcraft? oh wait, that was only a ... doubology...wtf...whatever.
Game plus one expansion - isn't this just saying it'll be 2 expansions, really?

Did they REALLY spend all the time since Brood War was released actually working on content? As amazing as that is, they could have made a more gradual story, released it three years ago, and have had a helluva lot more opportunities on their plate rather than all the fruit of their labors build up until it was a cumshot that wouldn't fit through the ureathra

I agree with St. toxic with their dishonest way of explaining it to the community but either way we will get a new starcraft xpack/game every year for 2 years so I'm cool with that I guess.
I'm surprised by the decision mostly because with each version they release of the game there will be less gamers buying it etc. At least they are solving the problem of no one having the last pack with the extra units so they can't play together. They are solving that problem by not changing multilayer at all lol.
