Starcraft 2 anyone?
Personally, I'm not really interested in playing it, I just want to see if it lives up to it's predecessor (I doubt, but hey).

HL1 redone on the source engine. It looks pretty damn bueno and HL1 is one of my favourite FPSes of all time. I can speedrun through that shit with eyes shut. Should be out in the near future.

So far - corridor shooter with bullet-time. Kind of reminds me of Blood 2 and Max Payne

I'm awaiting these games in 2009:
RPGs:
Dragon Age: Origins
Eschalon - Book 2 (still have to buy book 1, but will get to it sometime this year)
Drakensang - the dark eye - (if I don't buy the German version of it)
Adventure games:
Gray Matter
Sherlock Holmes vs. Jack the Ripper
and some other games as well....

F.E.A.R. 2 makes me kinda confused. On one hand, I'd rather see a No One Lives Forever 3. On the other hand, I realize what a dumbed down piece of shit it would likely be a la Deus Ex 3, BioShit, or Fallout 3. Damn game industry.

I'm with Frater on this one. I've been waiting on Black Mesa: Source for a while now, and the sooner they get it done, the better. Half-Life is one of my top-ten franchises, along with Fallout and Aliens.

Hopefully some of the level design and enemy placement will be different. I enjoy the shooter, but having exactly the same experience on new graphics? No thank you.

Hate to kill your buzz mangos, but judging by that, and in general, 09 seems like another shitty year in gaming. I can only anticipate, or hope rather, that someone'll be "playing the Joker card" if you know what I mean.

Perimeter 2
It is out but I haven't purchased it yet.
For me, the most surprising and unexpected sequel ever.

wtf is a vertical slice?
that article also says the project was cancelled, but

If you're waiting for Mass Effect 2, I've got Mass Effect laying on top of my PC here. I can just write a 2 on the box and the disc and I think that should pretty closely replicate the experience.
