China as an exporting country has strong incentives to keep the current status quo(relatively cheap Yuan, strong US dollar). Even in the unlikely event of China not rolling over their existing debt claims and/or ceasing to purchase more US Govt bonds, other economies with current account surpluses have incentives to buy US Govt bonds to preserve their competitive advantage. Trade policy is dictated by domestic policy and the Chinese economy requires a large growth rate(fueled by foreign direct investments and increasing exports) to provide enough jobs for the increasing work force in its cities. Upsetting the populace is the last thing the Communist Party wants.King of Creation wrote:It's a lose-lose situation with China-US. If China calls in US debt, then the Chinese economy collapses as a result of the US economy collapsing. With the collapse of the two biggest economies, the rest of the world follows suit and we are back in the Dark Ages hombre.

for one, i wasn't born inside a forum. number two, how is that a "mental level", retard? i'm currently a 4.0 English major...so what if i get drunk and tell your family to go fuck you up the ass. that doesn't mean i'm less intelligent/intellectual. no. it simply means i'm prone to drinking and talking shit. which i was (and already stated while i was). and which you actually picked apart as if there was any meaning in it other than "fuck you, stop believing everything you read."Retlaw83 wrote: This is the real mental level of most NMAers - they just can't let it out for fear of a ban.

Go Friars!
Also public sector cheerleading vs. private sector cheerleading. Either way, I, Joe Actuallyworksforaliving get fucked over either way, doesn't matter if Big Gov't deducts may paycheck or Big Corp. Same difference. Drop the pom-poms you homos.
System needs big reform, but more from an efficiency standpoint. AFAIK our QOC is good, but costs, especially admin/bureaucratic type stuff is what ails us. Too much vested interes (corps, HC labor unions) in changing the status quo.
At least before I could opt out completely.

I highly recommend that you guys read this article on American healthcare, it really points out the problems with commercialisation (even though it misses some important further points):
http://www.independent.org/publications ... .asp?a=600
When the Bill first went through (and even before) there were some really interesting articles in The Economist about it. In the beginning of every issue, they publish some letters from people who disagree with articles and surprise surprise, many of the protectionist arguments resemble the ones you hear here as well. "America has the BEST HEALTHCARE IN THE WORLD for a reason", "THEY ARE TAKING MAH GUNS", etc.

Wow, someone who talks about their GPA on the internet is a real cool cat.
Not to mention the fact I've only met one person who had a 4.0 who had any common sense - it's not a measure of intellect so much as a measure of being willing to do work.

Holding so much debt has to be good for calling in favors.King of Creation wrote:...Since China and Japan hold so much of the debt, the US can just keep on racking it up because if China or Japan went crazy and called the US on it, the entire world economy would collapse.
Appearing stupid is sexier than being stupid. Although I hear stoopid was a cut perk in fallout three, but was abandoned when the devs found out it could be simulated by simply playing the game...
