Go to atlanta and visit the cnn building. Get stopped by a deputy for speeding make sure he has a thick southern accent its worth it. There's plenty of historical sites down south.

Why not just look into a chartered flight in a military jet? Do they do those?

I wouldn't think so. I know our military does(free, woop), of course we're landing at our own bases.

Well, yeah, that's what I had meant, though I don't know the rates. Free, you said? Are there prerequisites?

depends what you want to do really. the north west is pretty good if you like kitsch stuff and forests. theres also seattle which is pretty fun and if you like the television series 'twin peaks' like i do then you can go to where they filmed it just a mile or two out. theres also a couple of american classic towns in the mountains like cody where you can watch the rodeo, yee haw.

the cities on the west coast are also worth seeing, and if you have a car a coastal drive is pretty bueno. i didnt really dig LA that much but its nice to see it in the flesh rather than on cinemascope. since you like the desert id suggest driving through the nevada desert. its ridiculously hot but nothing like the stuff we have in europe.

the south is good more so for the people than much else. id say that is also classic america as you can eat gumbo and watch alligators in the swamp.

generally id suggest renting a car for the time you're there and seeing as much as possible. you can get motel rooms pretty cheap and if you stop off at the tourist greeting place things at the stateline you get a lot of coupons and little maps. i think about $800 or so for a fortnight is enough unless you want to live lavishly, which you are well known for of course.

Yeah, renting a car does not sound that bad. I'm leaning more and more towards an auto ride to the Nevada-Arizona-California deserts, maybe visit the big cities like Vegas and LA/SF? It'd be a pretty awesome Fallout-trip in that aspect as well.

Yeah you have to be in the U.S. military. Has to be at the right time, limited departures/destinations. All they make you pay for is like an optional $4 meal.

If you go anywhere in the South you need to visit Charleston in South Carolina, and Savannah, Georgia, too.

North Carolina has a lot of pretty wilderness (ranges everywhere from mountains to ocean front) and some interesting historical sites too. If you visit the Piedmont stop in Lexington to get some barbecue.

He does it for teh lulz. But Meggie has a great point; coastal drives in Cali really are something of an under-appreciated luxury among vacation experiences, especially at sunset. If you find yourself in Cali, try to make time for/ spend the night in Carlsbad, and once there, consider taking a walk on the beach (especially at night), which can be preceeded or followed up by grub at an Irish pub. It's pretty awesome

Copying them to a new disc via personal computorial device should get around that, shouldn't it?

It kind of ruins the whole buying them part for me. Ripping & burning takes longer than downloading & burning.
