Flamescreen wrote:So does this mean you're thinking of making it a campaign of 6 missions or is that strictly for the demo?
This is strictly for the demo. I'm still plugging along on IOOI and it's slated to come it at the full 20 missions. So, all-in-all I'm looking to contribute 2 SP missions, a 3-4 mission mini-campaign, and a 20 mission full campaign for your gaming pleasure.

I am aiming to have the first version of the demo mailed to Kreegle no later than Tuesday evening (08/27/02 or 27/08/02 depending on where you are). Right now I'm basically just fine-tuning things and making sure that everything is working properly like:
  • Combat Taunts show up in yellow, just like in the RPGs. (This makes a nice contrast w/normal float text, IMHO, which is normally in white, but I also use other colors when the situation warrants it.) I've also altered a bunch of them and am in the process of adding taunts from the RPGs for the SMs. (I'm not worried about that last bit too much, since it doesn't need to be ready until the second stage.)
  • The combat results in the text log have been revised. (Too bad for those of you that play exclusively w/the minimap. )
  • A whole bunch of miscellaneous tweaks here and there that I felt enhanced gameplay. (Doh! That reminds me, I need to revamp the drugs to make the duration longer like in the RPGs!)
I need to get it done by Tuesday night, because Wednesday morning at 8:00 AM I'm going in for the big finale of my dental work which will knock me on my ass for about 5-7 days. 8O

No problem. Just in case you think I'm over-extending myself, these SP missions and the mini-campaign aren't really a sidetrek, they're mainly things that I came up with that I cut from IOOI. For instance, the Demo_02.mis ("The Refinery") was an idea that I had ages ago that was inspired by something Darwin_187 posted on the old GSI forums. As I fleshed the plot out I couldn't really work it in, though.

So If I got that right, we get the demo, plus the 20 mission campaign? Very interesting!

Or the other way round... Watch out with these remarks, or I might turn

Thanks, Flame.

I won't bore you w/the details, but it was more horrible that I had expected. ("Look at the size of those roots!") I'll try to have the demo mailed off to Kreegle as soon as the drugs allow it. I just need to double-check some speech and considering I'm not exactly 100% right now I'm sure I would overlook errors like whether something says "WGR_A01" or "WGS_A01".

Good thing my teeth are still in good condition. I hope it will last till my forties. Don't push yourself. Health is more important than getting the Demo a few days earlier!

I think that this delay is pointless, so I will email it to Kreegle later. The little things that need to be done won't stop you from playing the mission.

The only thing that needs to be done is that the patrols and a total of five people in two bunkers don't have speech assigned to them. I'll fix that once I'm better and it will be in the second release of the demo along w/the second SP mission.

I'm going to extend an apology in advance here: Sorry for having forgotten to include a "Thank You/Credits" section in the ReadMe file...

Now to browse the forum for a bit, then I'll get back to plunkin' tiles down for my next SP mission: The Fall of the Hub...

Is that one part of the mini-campaign/demo you were talkin' 'bout?

*Yes, I'm joking. Of course I'm gonna play it!

BTW, are you ever gonna update yer website again? Granted, I don't have much room to talk, either :D

Can't blame you, really.
Max-Violence wrote:Is that one [Fall of the Hub] part of the mini-campaign/demo you were talkin' 'bout?
No, that's the second SP mission. Basically, the demo will look like this:
  • First Release: SP Mission "The Refinery"
  • Second Release: SP Mission "The Fall of the Hub", plus fixes/updates for above.
  • Third Release: 3-4 mission Mini-Campaign (Working Title: Fallout: Sloppy Seconds), plus updates/fixes for the previous material.
Yep, it's time to do a site update. I'll do one as soon as I'm in better shape.
