Nah for example DAC/NMA and #fallout coexisted in perfect harmony, ebony and ivory, and I would even argue that the IRC channel had a beneficial effect for the forums. It's a very different format and both have their place, it helps to keep the community active, and is a good way to get to know the members a bit better / personally as well, thus strengthening the community. I believe a notable portion of the fun forum stuff would probably never have come into existence without IRC. Also I think many people are on Discord anyway so having a DAC chat room is just an added bonus. Well that's my opinion anyway, I'm not saying you're completely wrong but all in all I believe it would be more beneficial than detrimental to DAC. If someone wanted to just hang out in the chat room and not post on the forums, they probably wouldn't post much anyway. Take for example Pooper: he said he always was more of a IRC guy, but he definitely had a pretty strong forum presence too.
Should talk to someone about putting it under the twitter link in the community tab on the front page. That said somebody active should probably take over the social media stuff.
