Actually, if you have a fast processor, random encounters won't be a problem (you'll rarely find them).

I'm sure if you dig around long enough you'll find my post on how to finish it in about 2 hours. I'm not the only one who's done this either. Had someguy from the Unwashed Villages ask me if he did it the same way he did, and it was. So I'm sure I'm not the only guy to ever post it on a forum.

There's a 'quick walkthrough' for Fallout 2 in Per's FO2 guide, right here(scroll down a bit). I'm sure I've seen another one too somewhere...
