FALLOUT 3 FOR THE X BOX
I agree with VasikkA about the controller.
I guess it sounds like a good idea, but IMO controllers are awkward, at least compared to a mouse/keyboard.
I think the biggest pain in the game will be the ask about. It's gonna take bloody forever to type painstaking letter after painstaking letter (unless I fork out even more cash for a keyboard/mouse). I love trying to "ask about" everything in Fallout, and with a console, I'd probably just completely ignore it, since it's way too much of a hassle.
Remember playing Command and Conquer for the original Playstation. Having to use the stupid controller made my fingers sore after a measly hour. If Fallout 3 were out on Xbox, I'd have blisters the size of golfballs on my fingers.
I don't like the idea of having to go out and buy an Xbox (and then a ton of accessories) and any other console, when the computer is and has always been the most powerful thing around.
Also, if a new fallout were to be made, It would probably not have grainy graphics. Sure, they'd sell a ton of games to us, but they won't attract any new gamers that demand pretty pictures, gameplay be damned.
The rules against tossing the entire town into combat would be great, but I think that nearly everyone in the post-apocalyptic world should have at least a basic knowledge of weapons and probably have a good firearm with them, even children. Those who can't defend themselves would die. Only the strong would survive. I haven't played through Fallout 2, yet, or really gotten into the story behind the game, so I might be making a fool of myself. Oh, well.

If no one is going to dignify my outlandish statement with a response, i'll just have to apologize and move on. Sorry.
It seems as though an interface for fallout in the xbox system would be bulky and hard to use. However, if i was given the option between choosing fallout 3 on xbox or fallout 3 never seeing daylight, guess which one i'd choose...

No loading times? That's a bit of an extreme thing to want, isn't it?
Besides, loading times on the Xbox are so quick, you barely notice them.

That's unfair. Baldurs Gate: Dark Alliance was a wicked game - both in single player and co-op. Beautiful graphics, excellent game-play that was fine-tuned to perfection...it was definitely better than any version of Gauntlet I've ever seen. Don't hate it because it's got "Baldur's Gate" in the title - that's just small-minded.Mad Max RW wrote:Look at Dark Alliance. It's like Gauntlet but retarded.

I don't know where you guys get the idea that the interface would be all the more difficult. Ok so you use the keyboard to enter Name, Age. Which shouldn't be too difficult unless you're typing "LORD AVALON THE GREAT DRAGON SLAYER".. You scroll through the SPECIAL and adjust each value individually. use the directional pad to go through this and press X to increase value or Y to decrease ..... directional pad down and into traits press a to select or deselect 2.... directional pad to skills and again... use a to tag and x or y to decrease if you have any points to spend.
The answer to your first question is shaddup.
Yeah, what Kreegle said!Kreegle wrote:That's unfair. Baldurs Gate: Dark Alliance was a wicked game - both in single player and co-op. Dark Alliance was great, the only downside i ever found to it was while playing extreme with my archer, no bows were available at the shop for ages, made it rather difficult.
Typing and the character screen should be no problem using a pad. The 'ask about' argument is silly, it's not really a vital part of the game.
A bigger problem is character movement and combat. You'd probably have to move your character with the mushroom-thingy, because you can't simply click on a location on the screen with your mouse. There is no cursor, which is very useful for choosing actions, like talking/examining/picking things up and other actions. Imagine playing the original Fallout with only the keyboard. You'll soon notice that mouse is damn important. Same thing with combat, unless it's simplified. How are you gonna move in hexes, fire at a small target, choose firing modes, make aimed shots...? Sure it's possible, but it would be very time consuming and frustrating.
If they can come to a solution to these things, then fine, make a Fallout 3 for Xbox. But only if the PC-version doesn't suffer because of it. And I'd prefer that they port the Xbox vesion from the PC-version, not vice versa.

Well speaking for myself I meant that out of all the interface, the character screen would be the most challenging to convert not converting the interface would be difficult fullstop. If that makes any sense?Killzig wrote:I don't know where you guys get the idea that the interface would be all the more difficult. Ok so you use the keyboard to enter Name, Age.
