im pretty sure that when you mouse over an enemy, and it says... lets say: 75%, that is not your actual chance to hit.
i think that whatever their AC is is subtracted from that number you see, so if your enemy has 15 AC, then in-fact, your chance to hit them is something like 60%. but there are lots of other factors that i dont know that affect this..
so, based on light, distance, range of weapon, weapon skill, perception, enemy's AC, and other things i dont know, thats how you figure it.
but i think that what you actually see (ie, 95%) is not the true-to hit. i mean, dont you wonder why you miss so much when it says 95%?
as for light, etc... i dont know how those play in mathematicly speaking, but they do affect it, usually in a negative way.

I'm not an Israeli. I'm not even Jewish. Hating pttm's polls is part of human nature.

Well (mathmatically) how does it arrive at those amounts Strapon?
Mathmatically how is AC determined or chance to hit, is what I'm asking.

I think all of the AC and other stuff is factored in beforehand.

Well, you're actually supposed to miss 1 out of 20 times. If you factor in critical failures and the such, it balances out pretty much evenly.

ah!
so im guessing that your actual to hit could be... lets say: 150% (just saying)
so even after the AC is subtracted ~> 135%, it has to go down to 95%, because that is the max no matter what.
ah... that makes sense now!
so, when you mouse over, that is your true to-hit percentage, just that you could be so good at using that weapon that your to-hit would have been super high before all the factors played in.
i dont know about darkness, but it does have a really negative affect, esp. at longer ranges.
