Re: It's like spitting back at rain...
Yet the idea of making Fallout 3 elluded him? If he went to the fan sites to see what Fallout fans wanted, I think that's probably the first thing he should have picked up on.Chucky wrote:Chuck Cuevas - When we started discussing a Fallout console game, we looked at the fan sites and what they wanted out of future Fallout titles.
This is funny as shit. We looked at what the fans wanted, then decided to make a console action game rather than Fallout 3 because it's a rich, wonderful setting. Oh, and we think Killian once said he owned an XBox.The hardcore fans aren?t into consoles or action games, so we knew from the outset that some fans wouldn?t get into the idea. But at the same time, we felt that the Fallout universe is a rich, wonderful game setting, and many Fallout fans as well as console gamers who aren?t familiar with Fallout will love playing around in it.
Much like Saddam is a huge fan of the Kurdish people! Many members of the current development team are Fallout fans.
Like thongs, which played a huge part in Fallout 1 and 2.Many of the ideas incorporated into the story, art, and design come straight from Fallout 1 and 2.
What would be a good idea, and let's not do that. With all of this in mind, we took a different direction from the PC titles, putting together a game experience that appeals to a broad console audience (a group with different expectations than the hardcore PC gaming crowd).
The IRONY. We're huge fans of Fallout that don't get the point of Fallout is was to make a tabletop RPG experience on the PC. Bravo! And in the end, we feel that what makes a game Fallout isn?t turn-based combat or sprites or a keyboard and mouse.
Want more IRONY? They didn't decide to make something like Tactics Ogre, which sold much better than anything Interplay's made for consoles, and which would even be closer to what Fallout is like, a tabletop game experience.
Stop the insanity, Chucky! Dual wielding thong babes has jack shit to do with the setting, dipstick! It?s about a setting and storyline that?s going to be cool no matter what platform it?s on.
Re: Fallout Enforcer Red Box Edition for the GBAUltimately we?re hoping to broaden the appeal of the Fallout world so that we can make more Fallout titles for all platforms, all types of gamers.
This is where the thongs came from.Chuck Cuevas - We incorporate a lot of Fallout elements that no one?s seen in a console game; likewise, we incorporate a lot of console elements that no one?s seen in a Fallout game.
Oh yeah, this has never been done before on a console game! The combination of the two really makes for some of the best and most unique game situations. For instance, combat takes place in real-time. You can lock on to aim at one enemy more easily, or use standard controls, allowing you to swing/shoot in all directions with abandon.
And real time's never been done in a Fallout game? Apparently Chucky didn't know about Fallout Tactics?
As never been seen before in Morrowind. You can build up combination melee attacks by hitting an enemy multiple times in sequence, or use a special attack that takes longer to wind up but does more damage.
Name an action game where this doesn't appear. You can even dodge out of the way of your enemy?s attacks.
Who, for the most part, don't buy your games, Chucky. Ever wonder why?All this is pretty familiar for the console action gamer ?
Umm.. Never played any scrolling fighting game, Chucky? This has been around since the late 1980s with Double Dragon, long before Fallout existed.but we combine these things with Fallout standards. Knockback causes creatures to get knocked around by sledgehammers and explosions.
Re: Gauntlet.Players can improve their character and increase his/her skills, such as critical hits (doing additional damage).
Which has also been included in a number of action games, but never works well at all.You can run headlong into combat or lure enemies into the mines that you set on the ground.
This is almost as good as MicroSoft claiming they're innovators.Blending the simple easy-to-pick-up controls of a console action game with the diverse strategies and systems traditional to Fallout, we?ve come up with a game that?s really not like anything else out there.
Funny, I thought they lost strength after Fallout 1, which is what Matt tells you in Fallout 2. Even Fallout Tactics got this one right. The story takes place shortly after the events of Fallout 1, where the mutant army was defeated and dispersed, and the Brotherhood of Steel began to grow in strength.
Which sounds a lot more like Fallout Tactics than Fallout or Fallout 2. Especially that this kid is supposedly a tribal villager, and those didn't exist at the time of Fallout. It begins with a Brotherhood of Steel initiate (the player character) sent out on a training mission ? with no supplies. Traveling to the small desert town of Carbon, the player character is supposed to rendezvous with a high-ranking member of the Brotherhood in order to receive further instructions.
Interacting means GO KILL STUFF.. Wait for it.. Wait for it..But things get complicated. The Brotherhood officer doesn?t show up, and the player has to interact with people in the town to find out what happened.
That didn't take long, did it?The townspeople have their own problems ? raiders.
Great! Thanks, Chucky! What was supposed to be a training mission turns into full-scale battle.
Damn, Pyro beat me to this comment, but he's absolutely right. If a tribal wanted to join the guy that wiped out the Mutant Army, he'd be headed for Arroyo, not Lost Hills.he wandered briefly, hearing stories about the defeat of the mutant army and the forces that opposed them. It was inevitable that Cyrus would go to join the Brotherhood of Steel.
Then again, I think we all know the Brotherhood of Steel is used in this game for the same reason Fallout Tactics used it - name recognition.
Gosh, there's just so much wrong with this. What other game lets you fight a super mutant toe-to-toe in real time, diving out of the way as he tries to blast you with his minigun ? until blow a hole in his chest with a plasma pistol, then steal his minigun, sell it for bottle caps, and use those caps to buy some intimate time with a professional woman?
- Fallout Tactics allowed you to go toe to toe with supermutants in real time.
- Plasma weapons don't blow holes, they superheat.
- If he's dead, you're not really stealing.
- Hookers aren't a big part of Fallout, dipshit.

Which makes it all the more bawfulling. Who exsist in their target audiance that has heard of and enjoyed Fallout? And if someone did fall into that catergory, why would they want this game more than Fallout 3?Saint_Proverbius wrote:Then again, I think we all know the Brotherhood of Steel is used in this game for the same reason Fallout Tactics used it - name recognition..[/list]
OH THE PAIN THE PAIN, PLEASE MAKE IT STOP!
"Refining" eh? Hmm, I wonder how many skills there will be? Or attributes for that matter? How about, raping the skill system and fucking up SPECIAL?Chucky wrote:At the same time, we’re spending a lot of time refining the skill system right now (based on the SPECIAL system of Fallout 1 and 2) as well as the special needs of multiplayer.

So you admit you were the brains behind Fallout Enforcer!Killzig wrote:*steps away from playing bgda on the x box a moment* X Box? What X box? ME!? NEVER! Then again my thread did clearly state if it were a TRUE TO THE ORIGINAL port of Fallout to a console they'd probably do more good for their fan base than this garbage.

It's funny that most of the feedbacks on sites without any sort of relation to the "HARDCORE fallout fan" have been overwhelmingly negative. To use VE3D as an example, in 25 Posts there was 1 - Wait and see. 1 - Saint Proverbius post and 1 - BG DA fan who was looking forward to the game. All the rest were negative. So tossing out those 3 posts there are still 22 people who think interplay is killing the fallout franchise and they are the "casual fallout fans/general gaming fans" this game is intended to reach. At bluesnews the interview was barely mentioned in an article with some other, more significant, news items. There was ONE comment out of 8 in relation to the interview and it was negative. The other 7 couldn't even care to comment on the game. Gamerswithjobs completely ignored the story. Evil Avatar in 6 comments we have 1 positive, 1 negative, 2 off cuff "jokes," 1 reference to the original rpgs, and some guy who probably has an amazingly small penis telling people to call him "THE HAMMER." maybe that was saint, I don't know.
If Interplay's marketing department ever bothered to open their eyes and look past the hatred they have for Fallout fans they'd realize what kind of mistake they're making just based on the general feedback this game is receiving. Then again, if Interplay's marketing department and execs had any sort of sense about them the company wouldn't be so deep in the hole.

It's my scheme to finally bankrupt Interplay, yes. Chuck Cuevas and I are actually in cahoots. He agreed to produce a horrendously crappy Fallout game so that all of us thirsting for a Post Apocalyptic RPG would divert our attention to Project Phoenix.Saint_Proverbius wrote:So you admit you were the brains behind Fallout Enforcer!Killzig wrote:*steps away from playing bgda on the x box a moment* X Box? He has exceeded my expectations for him and did I mention Phoenix is turn based? 3-d with a top down perspective? For your PC? Fully flexible in gameplay so that saint proverbius can finish the game with either his HAMMA' or that sweet tongue of his?

Okay, no one wants Fallout 3 because Fallout and Fallout 2 didn't sell well. However, every gamer in the world knows Fallout was great, even though no one wants Fallout 3, so we should use the name as much as possible in games that have nothing to do with Fallout and then bathe ourselves in the riches.
That pretty much seems like the case with what's been going on with Fallout.
