Getting to Necropolis and not knowing about the sewers. Eventually I figured out about where the water chip was and when I got there all the Ghouls were dead and there was a couple of unarmed super mutants walking around.

Of course, because it was my first time I'd ever seen them, I put my gun away and went to go talk to them.

combat started. I said 'oh shit' then unloaded my combat shottie into them and thought they weren't that tough.

Then I met Harry :P

I think my first experience is gonna get be 'boo'ed off the stage..

Well, at the time (13 then), I was a BIS fanboy, the first game I got by them was BG1, I was still a bit new to the big time PC gaming scene and didnt know what was what (The first 'modern' game I played on the PC was the Daikatana demo, because the demo disc said it was 'long awaited').

Well anyways, I was a BIS fanboy on a mission to get all their games, and I never knew about Fallout. And walking around in the store, I saw Fallout 1 and 2, I didnt even know what 'Post-Apocalypse' or 'Mad Max' was then, either.

I took it home and started up Fallout 1 and thought it played like D&D, I min/maxed my stats with 10 Strength, 10 Endurance, 10 Agility, 1 Intelligence and 1 Charisma, with all 3 gun skills tagged. I learned I couldnt talk to NPCs. I wandered around fighting mantii and gaining XP to level up and gain a stat point (as I had planned), but learned you dont gain them from levels. Frustrated, I played Fallout 2.

Fallout 2 - Falche gave me max everything and I ran around killing everyone and getting...you guessed it, teh kewl minigunz.

I really hate how I was then, I played Diablo 2 and Counter-Strike almost constantly. Hurrah for growing up.
