FO3 iplot idea
Well yeah, but they don't really fit to a post-apocalyptic theme. Aliens and wannamingos in Fallout 2 were kinda lame. I think cold war ended when the bombs fell and all that is left of communism is in ruins in China. It'd be hard to imagine a commie invasion overseas in California. Anyway, I think there's enough good story elements in Fallout already.Rama Stryfe wrote:Aliens? Nope... But why not? 50's, didn;t they fear martians and commies?

Here's a loose plot I came up with a little while back. Tell me what you think.
You're an exile from the what's left of Boston. You're shunned by the community you come from and spend a long time wandering aimlessly in the wasteland trying to make enough cash to survive. You take jobs as a bounty hunter, law enforcer, caravaner, bandit, what have you.
You end up in New York City through circumstances I'll leave open for the imagination. NYC is, of course, overwhelmingly big and populated when compared to the wasteland surrounding it. There you discover that the city you came from is planning something horrible (which I'll once again leave open to interpertation), and you must return to take the city by force, or destroy it in some other way (possibly uncovering some unused nukes and launching a strike). Or you could return to your home town and inform them about what you've learned and side with them.
It's simple, and I guess any two cities could be substitued, but I'd really like to see post-apoctalyptic NYC.

Wasen't NYC a radioactive hellhole (READ: the glow)?
I'd really like to see a Post-Apocalyptic Chicago (Because it's a far better town). That's not gonna happen though. The FO community would be up in arms if any area covered by FOT is placed in FO:3.

Wasn't the Glow bombarded many times? Explaining the reason why it's so radioactive after 80 years?
NYC was probably only hit once, maybe twice. (Assuming that it was at it's current size.)
Texas area might be fun, but I don't really care.
I want them to be original. I don't want a BOS copy, another radioactive facility. They better mix it up.

I'm not saying that NYC was in the glow/affected by the glow. I was saying that because all major cities were saturated with bombs. Of course, if the glow was really that radiated then it would be a massive crater, not just one tiny hole in the ground. Of course, that depends on whether the weather (!) was affected by the Nukes.
NOTE: Never read the FOB.
EDIT: how do I get this quick bold/italics? if i select a text and say ALT+B then it just adds at the end of the post.

(this was posted after I had started typing the above.) No. Didn't russia have many dozens aimed at solely obliterationg NYC?Mr. Green wrote:NYC was probably only hit once, maybe twice. (Assuming that it was at it's current size.)

The reason the Glow was so fucked up was becuase that's where the Mariposa Military Base was where they were doing all sorts of silly experiments like the FEV vats, etc.
Plus, if there are ghouls and stuff that can survive severe radiation in Gecko and crap I'm sure there would be life in NYC even after being obliterated by nukes. They should add radiation suits to the game...

I never use shortcuts or buttons, but rather simply type "[" "b" "]", etc., to get my formatting. I do often allow myself the luxury of copy-'n'-paste when breaking up a quote.

I agree. I don't think they should have anything similar to FoT's Environmental Armor, however. The problem was that it was a substitute for Combat Armor, whereas a balanced version would give excellent protection against environmental hazards like Radiation, Gas and Flame (perhaps even Poison, although I don't see a logical reason as to why) but very poor protection against Ballistic/Normal damage. This would give the character real choice to make.
(This might not be viable, however, if Gas Masks for the Head Slot are implemented. The Gas Mask vs. Helmet option is a balanced and viable system, however.)

I already posted this reply elsewhere but owell same topic
How about this for a main quest. New York ten years after Fallout 2 takes place, you are a new recruit for the enclave. Your first missions are easy but still challenging (going around NYC, taking care of trouble makers and mutants or deathclaws, etc,....) But after a few missons you get promoted to Sgt. and your first big mission is to find out wat happened to the enclave in the west. (All Fallout 2 players who have beaten the game know
) So your now part of a squad (instead of leading it you are a party member) so you have to now go and take orders from where your leader goes and what he tells you to do. But as the company first sergeant you can influence his descisions. So you have to go through the midwestern area to get to California, on the way there you can do side quests and whatnot, but sometimes you must do battle or negotiate in order to continue. And if your leader dies then its game over so you not only have to look out for your ass but also your leaders. When you finally reach there you find out what happened and the game branches off into two descisions, Your leader wants to eradicate those who are responsible for the Enclaves doom, (Arroyo) You can either help or refuse. If you dont have a high brown noser skill or speech skill then you must battle your leader and your once beloved squad. All your friends now turn on you even your best friend. This makes it harder to just wanna play the good guy role especially if you grow fond of the NPC's. If you turn on your friends you become accepted by Arroyo and now live there, if you go along your leader dies and now you take over and restart the Enclave in California. Many elements from fallout 1 2 and BOS would be included in this game. Wives, abonding your group or sumtin etc,.... plus much more. What do you think?
EDIT: Perhaps on the way there you could run into the brotherhood.

yea, a crpg needs lots of combat against stereotypes! Mabye make fo3 a squad-based combat game instead?Soldier87 wrote:Well how about instead of fighting to stabilize the region and make everyting ok again, etc... you are pinned up against foreign invaders. Mad Chinese or poed Russians, maybe Canadians (F3 needs some humor too). Perhaps aliens.
they're not a meant part of the game and story however, although that remark is funny and deserves a good laugh, you a comedian? lol.satanisgreat wrote:So are bugs and glitches but it doesn't make it a good idea to have them in every future Fallout game.Soldier87 wrote:the BOS is part of the fallout universe, it should stay that way, they dont have to be involved directly, but they need to be in there somwhere.
