my monitor's got shrinkage?!

My monitor is also 17", unless we are talking about something else

I think degauss has something to do with magnets I'll try it out

yeah, over all i think '19 is about the best value out there right now. you can prob find some nice 17s for real cheap too. I have 2 19s (for 2 machines), I was thinking of getting a 21 so I could use the 19s in a dual monitor setup.

degauss fixes your screen when you mess it up with a magnet, you know, how it gets all pupley/blue.

degauss helps to fix it.
severe damage may take ...gasp! months of daily degaussing, i mean Severe. (like you took your big ass stereo speaker apart and put it within an inch of your monitor, dont try this at home kids!)

How about flat screens? I've heard there's still some weird problems with them, like dead pixels?
