I hate viruses. I hear that most of the viruses are the work of childish linux fags with a mean case of sour grapes. Punishing the average user by forcing them to reformat their computer won't cause Microsoft to change it's policy.
I -just- finished reformatting from this worm going around and I haven't been using my computer much during the summer since it's so nice out and such. However when I want to use it. I expect it to be in operable condition. I'd really like to have the author of this worm and a crowbar handy so I can tell him how much I appreciate his handy work. Then show him a little handy work of my own. Piles of shit like that infuriate me. I really have no sympathy for some kind of ethical issue when it comes to software when some shit decides to "Stick it to microsoft" while fucking my computer up. I'd like to open his/her face like a can of beans.

Linux is good for some things... it is however BAD for games. It's not terrible for games but in my opinion. A lack of direct 3d support (since it's proprietary and the most widely used standard api for games) really limits your choices. You know I was mad when I posted that. It could have been that it wasn't some linux fanatic behind this latest worm. Still I just hate this "Lets hurt windows users to hurt the corporation" Mentality. That's not going to get the average computer user to switch to Linux. That's the equivalent of terrorism for christ sakes. These people need to get off their fat shut-in mancubus asses and get a life. It's an operating system. Windows happens to be convenient. Yeah it has problems. But it's convenient. I'm entitled to my preferences. As is everyone else.
A lot of those sorts profess to be intellectually superior because they use an operating system that oft-times doesn't have a gui. It's pretty fractured logic to think that a mammoth corporation is going to bend to the will of some two-bit prankster. No. You're just hurting the average joe. Now if I remember correctly most linux fanatics (read "fags" in a purely derisive and non-sexual context) are sore because microsoft holds so large a share of the operating system market. So lets hurt potential users! Good idea, ya fucking morons!

How the fuck do people get viruses? I mean really.
The ONLY "virus" I ever got was when I found a really old floppy diskette in a box of miscellaneous computer crap. It had a really primitive batch file "virus" on it that deleted a few crucial .sys files.
Easily fixed that problem.
I don't know how people get viruses though. Maybe it's because I use web-based email because it's practically virus-free. I'm not sure.
Virus scan annoys me anyways, it takes up RAM, takes forever to load, and clutters my system tray with like 50 icons. I try and keep those icons down to a minimum of five.

This sentence has thirty-two letters.
And visiting Warez / Porn sites get you viruses too. It's really, really not a good idea to even look for warez unless you have a good handle on what you're doing. Don't ever download anything from a newsgroup, either, if you don't.
It's really quite incredibly simple to keep your comp clean however - Norton! Oh yeah. Realtime protection baby, keeps me clean out of the STD game. Or ITD. Whatever. "Oh but it eats resources! It's the devil!" Ok, so I'm doing something that i need resources for, I'll turn it off. Otherwise, I'm gonna get loads of viruses when I'm not looking. Too cool.

I did a DoD format of my hard drives...Took 7 days to complete...30 minutes after I reinstalled WinXP, I started redownloading the programs I use constantly....
Found a site that looked real...Downloaded the program...Turned out to be a virus...It was supposed to be a Tucows page...I didn't notice the address at first, but went back and it was like Tuucows, or something......
I didn't have Norton installed, so I couldn't clean it out..Didn't know what all was affected...So I did a regular startup disk reformat...What a waste of time.

Yup. But in my experience not by just visiting those sites. You have to be downloading crap off of them. Video-type files, and some miscellanious stuff. As for photos, I've downloaded 2,000+ photos and never had any problems. You get viruses from pron sites?!?
Here's an interesting story about that....
But my sister was dicking around on my computer one day and SOMEHOW she corrupted the Master Boot Record (MBR). That's the part of your hard drive that holds FAT information, as well as partition info. I had to repartition and reformat my drive. It sucked. I don't have any of that crap on my comp now though, that's what playboy TV is for.

There's another thing you could stick to the bottom of ExtremeDrinker's signature.
People get viruses because they're stupid and are not aware that they can actually get in in the simplest of ways. I've never gotten hacked/cracked or gotten a virus evAr. Oh, and pr0n sites are probably the hacking practice center, considering how many naughty stupid people go there.
Hell, I bet you could destroy like 20 computers or so by attaching a virus to those pr0n emails that get sent to people. They'd be all ready to jack-off and then WHAM, VIRUS.
