This should really be merged with the other one in GD... It's getting hard to follow!

That's a very good idea. I've been going back and forth replying to your posts.

Overall, I think that HL2 and STALKER are both on a similar level when all things known are compared.

But... HL2 will probably have a HUGE amount of people, upwords of 100000 I'm guessing.
Where as stalker will not have as many when it first comes out, but a bunch of people should catch on. I doubt it will have a group to start with that will never expand, stalker looks to be quite the awsome.

The PR for S.T.A.L.K.E.R. at E3 and Half-Life at E3 are almost virtually the same. No one payed attention to it, thought it would just be another copy of another game... How wrong they were.

The problem is that you know Half-Life with it almost endless modding capabilities in the past years. They will do the same with Half-Life 2. Let's hope Stalker will have options for the same, which it more then likely won't :). Then again' I dont need those options. The Concept is good enough.

Coop - 'Singleplayer' is another big plus for me.

Coop single player makes it all the cooler.

I hope that there is TW (thewastes) for HL2, and it doesn't... well... suck so bad.

Again I will say, they've been considering modding tools. AND they've been considering Mutant Vs. Human modes in multiplayer. They aren't too sure about it though.

If they don't implement that, they better make the tools so that someone else can.

Well, if they don't make modding tools and this game gets popular, you just know someone else will.

Yea I guess so...

But if it does become pretty popular, or not even that, if they knew what was good for them they would release some tools.

From the main STALKER FAQ:

"Q: Will the game engine support custom mods and maps like the quake and unreal engines do?
A: We plan to release tools to allow making mods, and, possibly, even levels.
The idea for now is as follows - players will be making their own parts of the Zone filled with events. Those modules, which have received our approval can be connected to S.T.A.L.K.E.R. to expand the Zone in this way. Most likely, you'll be able to create your own Zone, not tied to that in the game. Something similar has been done in Neverwinter Nights.
Though, we should make a note that the idea is still under discussion and due to technical complexity may be scratched. "

There you go.

Mmmm the Zone.

I can't wait.

Mmm-mm zone.

Sadly, I just found out STALKER is coming out MARCH 13 in the US. It's a good and bad thing. On one hand, I have time to get better hardware for my computer, on the other, STALKER comes out in a really long time.

See that's what you get for being optimistic.

ACTUALLY, I was just informed the release will be either before or after Christmas depending upon how quick they wrap things up.

by InvisibleMonkey
DO you really want them to wrap it up quickly ?

Posted: Sun Aug 31, 2003 3:51 am
by Nuclear Gandhi
Hell no. I want it to be good as possible you numbskull. You should know that.

Yeah, that's why it should come out after Christmas. Not before, if it come out before it won't be as good.
