Spazmo is dead on here.
Also think of how much Interplay would sell the Fallout license for. Are they going to give it away? Ha, right. I have no clue what licenses like that go for, $100k, $500k??? Does that sound reasonable? Whatever, that is money that won't be used to hire a few extra people or spend more time making a good game. And will the license guarantee more sales or help with distribution? No, a good game that is distributed worlwide will sell regardless if it has a "brand name" associated with it. Word of mouth, advertising and good reviews help in this industry.

Hell of a geography lesson there, Spazmo. I learned plenty. Anyway, it's pretty obvious that from the looks of things we'd get a crappy Biowared non-Fallouty game if things went over to Silver Style.
I'm being serious.
To whore the nonexistent Project Phoenix, maybe?EvoG wrote:why do you think I came to DaC?

suppose you're thinking about a plate of shrimp. suddenly somebody will say like 'plate' or 'shrimp' or 'plate of shrimp', out of the blue, no explanation.
Well, yes lets change the topic again to me :roll:atoga wrote:To whore the nonexistent Project Phoenix, maybe?EvoG wrote:why do you think I came to DaC?

Anyway, yea makes a lot of sense that I'd "whore" something that doesn't exist. Hmmm, lets see, then what would I be whoring exactly then? And for what...for the fun of it? Kgotcha.

yes, thats it... project phoenix, from its initial conception, was really just an elaborate conspiracy to rally the hopes of Fallout fans worldwide... THEN SMASH AND BURN THEM!
Consequently, this should start a chain reaction of paranoia and hate that will forever change the way developers view the post-apoc fan base.

Attention? What attention do I really get now? I'm not a very active member of DaC...nothing I do in my personal life is affected by the attentions of invisible people that live on a forum...my professional career isn't influenced nor enhanced by any sort of minor exposure talking on this site gives. If in fact I wanted attention, wouldn't I be more vocal all around 'fandom'? Why stop at DaC? What about the other fan sites, especially NMA?
I understand that wasn't your official opinion, but it was an interesting answer.
Arguably though, if any of you truly felt Phoenix did not exist, I don't think you'd be bugging me about the screenshots as much as you do.
Cheers

Very well, I should've said "AS" active...but the intent was that its not like I'm one of the uber posters is the thousands in post count, and that is a point as to my lack of wanting or needing any attention, as I'd probably spend more time here and post a lot more for the 'look at me' factor.
Nevertheless, screens sent...CYM. :p

Well Chris, thats why Jose posted that brief little backstory piece...to get a taste of the quality to be expected both from character development and dialogue. We're big HUGE proponents of story and even moreso great characters which of course drive that story. For what its worth, we started awhile back with aspirations to do film rather than games, until we realised its a great avenue to do both. We found greater inspiration to be able to not only tell our stories but also interact and create an atmosphere and world that the player lives in rather than passes through.
I just also happen to be an artist, and enjoy great visuals as well, so both are equally as important to me.
As for half the projects never getting made...only answer I can give is that its A) expensive not easy to do.
I hope you do think our games our good and that you do buy them.
Cheers

Well the fact is that people do not believe that 1 person with occasional help from others can make a good game with good graphicks.
Spiderweb is 1 person has done good games but the art well it is not up to date.
If you can make a good game with good 3d art that will be a first in the industry .
Finally i think that have an idea of the reason that you do not release a screenshot.
You care too much for the opinion of the fans .
Not only that but you want to impress the fans big time and that idea
that you will impress the fans big time is one of the reason that keeps you trying harder and harder to overcome the difficulties.
Edit Guess what ? We know that and that is why we bug you so much

Well, keep in mind ( and I've said this like forever ), that I'm developing the prototype with the help of others, not the full game. This is a small proof of concept-proof of technology demo that I'll will then use to acquire funding. With the business plan, planned development structure and industry contacts, coupled with a demo that investors/publishers can get their hands on, I'm very certain I'll be able to acquire the full capital needed to complete it. I'll have laid a LARGE foundation before I approach them and will then just need the money to finish it off ( mainly art assets ) which leads me to your last sentence...
...you are correct...I absolutely care about the opinions of the fans, as they are the ones that buy the game, and despite everyones claims that they don't care about graphics as much as story...they still do get impressed over beautiful art...its human nature, and keep in mind, the fans won't be the only people to set eyes upon my creation...I have an industry opinion to consider, and I'm measuring myself up against the best there is...so yea its a tall order and this has kept me rather shy about showing anything, not because it isn't good, but like you said, I'm always finding ways to make it better. This and other things of course, as I'm not ALWAYS working 100% on art for Phoenix nor, with my regular 'day job', am I able to work on Phoenix at all at times.
Cheers
