I never really thought of it was a problem..I like moving fast. As for the encounters..I've not noticed a difference..I still get a ton of them..Most of the time they all come right in a row, and that's just annoying.

I didnt know terrain effects things, like just the other day I was traveling along the coast, and the encounter contained a shore-type deal going on. So if you get an encounter when ur on a lake( as in near san fran.) there would be a lake in the battle screen. Well, logic suggests that anyway.

Its SOO annoying to get done with a random encounter(lets call them RE's shall we?) and then, after the RE your done with, you click on a place on the map, and before traveling even 10 minutes, another RE happens, good for leveling but bad if you have major radiation or need to get somewhere fast.

Being near a lake will not cause water to be on the map. This only happens when one is near the Basin of Tears, er water. as for Processor speed, I also had the same problem. Way back when it was impossible to make it to navarro without the car, adding a little sequence to thigns that made it fun. When I recently replayed the game, I could just walk in, as I traveled at about the same speed my car had gone on my old PC. That was way too easty. There must be some weird game mechanics where processor speed = travel speed. Why they would do that.. I have no idea. Its too bad nobody asked that back when Fallout Bible updates were coming out.

If they cant make a FO3, they could at LEAST make a patch, clearing up ALL the broken quests and such. *sigh*
we can do naught but hope

p.s. this has happened with another of my favorite games called NoX. It was neglected by westwood, then EA bought out westwood, and everything is just fucked. The game has been out forever too, tho.

Perhaps try lowering the sound and graphic accelerations? Type dxdiag in start menu>run u can lower them there. I think you can fiddle with some other things through control panel.

I have AMD XP3200 and XP Pro and I still get to many random encounters just very quickly. Also I noticed combat charaters get more than diplomates.

Try using moSlo or something and going through console mode. I've got a 2GHz P4 and don't have a problem with it.

OMG GEENIUSZ

Install Warcraft2 on a high-end machine, the units have funky voices.
