It would be cool to have something a little bit different than other games. In the few linear FPS's that have coop (Halo, Doom) coop was rather fun. What would it be like in a totally non linear world where up to 64 people wonder around doing whatever the hell they wanted? It'd be a mini-MMORPG type deal but without the extra bills.

Anyway, I doubted coop from the start. Next up AI!

Fact still remains, you will play an individuall callled a Stalker, wich is loosely based on the characters in Roadside picnic.
I think I know what the hell is a Stalker? But they actually spell it S.T.A.L.K.E.R., and the . usually means it's an abbreviation.

Shadow of Chernobyl is a crap title.
1) Smacks of exploitation
2) Anything with a word "shadow" in its name is bound to be crap.

Yes just a working title, as

" A change of the name to S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: The Shadow of Chernobyl is possible. "

implies, there is a possible name change ahead, albeit a very poor one.

And yes, we all know you will play a stalker. The point is, that if you read about it, they have clearly said in a few interviews that yes, it stands for something, no they won't tell, and yes, you will find out in-game. Please pay attention to the news when it is posted.

Well, STALKER still has it's great atmosphere, an interesting premise and some gameplay features that seem a little more complex than what your every day 3D orgasm has to offer.
A missing coop doesn't mean instant suckage.

NWN has co-op, is it good? NO!

FO didn't had any co-op, did it suck? NO!

Really. What the fuck? Was co-op the only selling point of the game? Hell, no. Co-op has been done before - it's nothing new. You'd think this was the first FPS to have co-op, and now that they've cancelled it there's no use buying the game any more. Calm down, already.
Anything with a word "shadow" in its name is bound to be crap.
Hey now, what about....no, no. You're right.

Shadow of chernobyl? Sounds pretty gay.

I'm not to bothered about lack of coop as I'm running a 56k. I don't see why they can't have coop in the game though if the game is meant to be able to be completed by ai controlled stalkers. Modders managed too implement coop in the farcry demo, le shrugge.

The realistic aiming sounds a bit shit. Iron-sights all the way.

The devs are a little silly

The fan-boards are fucking shit. As are the official forums.

Other features not in the game for gay reasons, features being dropped.

I never wanted to play online multiplayer or co-op in the first place. I am disapointed however, I had hoped that STALKER would have been one of the best LAN games out there. I mean imagine getting into your truck with a few select friends, driving out into the zone, only to have to hide for half an hour because theres a pack of 30 blind dogs out in the clearing ahead of you. It would be fantastic.

I suppose just regular multiplayer wont be to hard to be fun, me and my friends can just establish a "dont shoot eachother" rule. No big loss.

There will probably be some Team Deathmatch, or Monster Attack game type. No coop only means you can't play the singleplayer story coop.

<= lol to this.

Now, in a nutshell: no co-op - sucks, realistic aiming and 5.1 sound - rocks.
Obviously Stalker has lots (or at least important) of things that make it worthwile and unique, for me it is the game world's AI simulation system with all creatures pursuing their own goals in whole Zone all the time, and moreover in a completely non-linear environment.
Plus the visuals of course, but that wouldn't be enough.

I also kinda fancy the idea of wet clothes affecting fatigue.

'localised voices' probably means varying language versions of the game, according to the market: English for English speaking countries, Russian for Russians, etc. I might be totally wrong on this one though.

Ahh yes. Spazmo. The guy who claims to be a post-apoc fan - but really isn't.

For if he was, he'd know it wasn't eminem.
