ive read articles on stem cells making bald people regrow hair and a group of scientists are developing stem cells that allow your cells to regenerate so you live like 500 years.

I've heard of a research that is (supposedly?) going to bring us results in the next 20, 30 or 50 years, concerning the aging of cells. This bunch of scientists have a theory, that they could remove the gene from our bodies that makes us grow old, so we would only get till about 30's or 40's and then we would never die.

Funn-eeh.

I'd be curious it it's really that simple. Most of your cells could probably be okay dividing happily forever as long as they didn't get cancerous, but I think your nerve cells would still naturally degenerate. So you'd probably look 30 for a few decades and then you'd go senile and still die. You just wouldn't be a wrinkly old codger.

BETTER DEAD THAN RED!

What about the children? Will we be throwing them into the incinerator along with all the other old people?

Cheers.

Stem cells of clones. Only your stem cells will work. North Korea claims they can clone a human being and have a plan to have an area hospital hold a fetus clone of each person in case of severe bodily damage that would require you to dip into your neverending supply of fetus stem-cells.
off topic? OMG YOU'VE BEEN CENSORED... yet you're still posting. MYSTARY!!!!

The aging research now is mostly into a thing called telomeres, part of the chromosome which controls how many times the cell can divide before it becomes inert and useless; every time a cell divides, a little telomere unit falls off. They're trying to manufacture an enzyme which creates more telomeres and attaches them to the cells so that they can live longer (supposedly.) It's supposed to cause an accelerated form of cancer, though. D:
suppose you're thinking about a plate of shrimp. suddenly somebody will say like 'plate' or 'shrimp' or 'plate of shrimp', out of the blue, no explanation.

North Korea tends to claim a lot of things. The way things are there, about the only use most North Koreans would have for a fetal clone is as a main course. I'm sure knowing their divine leader is going to start taking real good care of them in the near future just as soon as all their enemies, real and imagined, foreign and domestic, are finally conquered any day now is meant to give them a great deal of comfort, though.

Hm... Yeah, I guess the nerve cells cause problems there. Damn it. I was like this *my penis* close to achieving immortality. Fuck.

Maybe study a way to regenerate nerve cells? IIRC nerve cells can only be 'born' from the initial cells of the embryo?
