I would join but I really can't run the required amount in the time alotted. Too much smoking I guess.
If college doesn't work out, I think I'll just take what cash I have and become a gangster in Mexico.

I've actually had that plan for many years now, ever since a middleschool substitute teacher told our class about how he was robbed by "banditos" who demanded toilet paper and batteries.

Getting an education, and Canada's military is, uhm, not exactly up to par, to say the least.

Goods news is that once you hit the bottom of the barrel, the only place left for you to go is up.

Barrels are usually made of wood, and careers/lives et al usually burn on the way down. It can always get worse, somehow. That vital knowledge makes me feel all warm and light-headed, woo yay. :drunk:

The condition of the Canadian army in terms of equipment is nothing short of abominable.

However. Our infantry are as well trained as any other. We also have quite talented marksmen and we do currently hold the record for the furthest confirmed kill by rifle in combat.

I think the previous record was set by some american in vietnam.

Carlos Hathcock. Marine Sergeant, and master sniper. Kill was made with a tripod-mounted M2 Browning .50 machinegun, with a scope from his issued sniper rifle mounted on top.

The kill was attained from over 1000 yards away.

Yes, this is all from memory. Yes, I love the HistoryChannel.

Indeed. The Canadian sniper used a McMillan .50 caliber rifle to when he shot his.

http://www.wordiq.com/definition/Carlos_Hathcock

http://www.snipercountry.com/Articles/B ... sSpeak.asp
The current record for longest range sniper kill is 2,430 m (7,972 ft), reportedly accomplished by a Canadian sniper in 2002, during the invasion of Afghanistan. This meant that the round had a flight time of four seconds, and a drop of 146 feet. The previous record was held by Carlos Hathcock, achieved during the Vietnam War, at a distance of 2,250 m.
Hathcock held the record for the longest combat kill with a 0.50 caliber BMG mounting a telescopic sight. The distance was an astounding 2250 meters. Hathcock was one of several individuals to utilize the Browning 0.50 caliber heavy machine gun in the sniping role. This success has led to the adoption of the .50 caliber cartridge as a viable anti-personnel and anti-equipment sniper round.
So there. Indeed.

Biatch.

Hear hear. Like they say about many big cities: they're great to visit, but a hell to live in. I think it'll be fun to try the army style for one year of my life, as long as I have all other doors open (graduated from two schools, submitted an application to university etc).

He used a Browning M2 as a sniper rifle by slapping a telescopic site on it and firing in single shot.

More then 750 kills in 3 months?! Talk about a busy finnish assasain.

Who cares about killing 1 guy at 2000+ meters. This finnish guy was evil. In war, quantity beats quality when it comes to kill count. A kills a kill, ya know. Doesnt matter if you sliced the guy with your knife or dropped an artilery shell on him.

Some earlier models of the .50 BMG had a selectable rate of fire. Semi or auto.

Besides, Carlos is TEH MAN! Although I don't like the Marines very much, he was badass through and through. His old service sniper rifle is now in the Marine Sniper Museum too.
