There's a good Edith Piaf joke in Thiaf, somewhere

So it turns out we were wrong about Thiaf.

YES. It may even also be free on iPad ?

They even wrangled Chris Avelone in as a writer, though I'm uncertain as to which of the new events/interactions he created. :aiee:

I had seen him mention the expansion on his Facebook page, but I didn't realize he was involved. That's exciting.

Really eager to see what the new Civ they're announcing is going to be like. Post-Earth colonization.

It won't be as good as Alpha Centauri. This is a guaranteed fact.

Something happened to Metro Last Light and I can't get it running properly any more, people say it's a PhysX problem but reinstalling those drivers, the game, trying all sorts of different tweaks, nothing works.

Went back to playing STALKER: Shadow of Chernobyl.

Mixing a few different mods together where they're able, namely Autumn Aurora and a few lesser ones. Will probably just reinstall Zone of Alienation once the new version comes out.

Decided to reinvestigate S.T.A.L.K.E.R Shadows of Chernobyl after watching a documentary about the real incident. I would have played it before now but I couldn't get over the fact that a decade old game is still twenty fucking bucks. So... I'm 'evaluating' a copy.

I seem to be a ways through the game and I'm loving the feeling of non linearity, you can see where many modern FPS have stolen their ideas. Things like stability of your shooting while moving, the inventory and weight system, unique assets, time and weather change and the diversity of items are all years ahead of any game close to it. It's a shame creativity is unrewarded terms of development, so many original things to list from this game. In fact the development was delayed for a number of years because they had a hard time selling these new features that are now standard for games in the genre.

STALKER SoC may have had its problems, the only thing that's really noticable is the strange hit box glitch where half of your bullets do not connect even while right on target (don't even bother using the grenade launcher). But I like to think of it as a built in hit/miss chance, and at least they give you tons of ammo to make up for it. The game is refreshingly devoid of the shit you find in modern games, no paying extra for in game adverts and core features for an unfinished game. And the learning curve... well it's actually a curve. The game is challenging, I really have no idea why people play the mindless "point, click and win" drivel that seems to come every couple of months now. Probably due to the heinously corrupt game journalism scene and greedy game publishers that concoct new ways to nickel and dime us (and the game industry as a whole) to death.

I'm scared for video games, there is no reason to buy them anymore, and if you do you get a sick feeling of buyers remorse because that asshole in the publishing company who knows jack shit about gaming is profiting (heavily) from your ignorance. The only projects that seem to make money off being intellectually challenging are kickstarters, which I still fund with my standard 50-60 currency units when necessary. That's it. I hate my life.
