Jimmy, the STALKER Lost Alpha was released a couple days ago. Completely free and open to download, it's standalone so you don't need any of the other STALKER games to play. Way more open world to boot, it's basically SOC reimagined to fit the alpha and beta builds before a lot of content got cut.
Anywho, besides that I'm playing a lot of Dark Souls 2.
The past couple of days have been pretty goddamn great for playing games between those two titles.

Was pleasantly surprised by
Wolfenstein - Radical New Therapy for Severe Brain Injury and Catatonia : entertainingly visceral shooty bang bang (despite the AI), competent stealthy stab stab (despite the AI), unusually solid writing/characterisation, a higher than usual (for the genre) level of attention to detail/world building, some lovely
music, good voice work, no bloody escort sequences. Not so sure about the engine, though it ran well enough aside from occasional texture pop-in, and it's (unsurprisingly, I suppose) pretty bloody linear, alas. Feels like there were substantial cuts to the narrative at points. PLUS FETCH QUESTS AND CHECKPOINT SAVING.
Also, 40ish GB.
Also also,
Transistor - Nihilism Express - vibrant art direction and aesthetic, subtle world building, fantastic soundtrack and voice work. A refinement of the gameplay of
Bastion, though I found it lacking challenge. Again, linear, and very easy to miss the background colour when almost all doors are of no return (and never marked as <strike>anything</strike> such). Pity that I cannot help but feel that it didn't do enough to differentiate itself from its elder sibling. Coattails et al.

I have been playing Hotline Miami Nights as per your recommendation and it is fun. I was a little turned off by watching videos and whatnot and thinking it would be like True Lies or something, but its a lot more complex than that. Ta
I also gave braid a go but it was too twee for me, fuck

I really liked the new Wolfenstein, just as a for reference. I see Blargh also enjoyed it. That seems like a sure shot for success.

I've been playing Little Big Adventure and Simpsons Tapped Out on my tablet.
LBA for Android = Exactly the same awesome fun as on the PC in the 90's.

Friend bought the Pay Day 2 4-pack thing and gifted me a copy along with some other friends.
Game is Left 4 Dead except you're robbing people and shooting cops that come at you like orcs if you fuck up the stealth segments or keeping the people down from calling the cops.
All in all pretty fun.

See Scarf Face Be an Idiotic Twat is bloody, bloody terrible, for the record. A tedious, frustratingly static game world, a staggering variety of dreadful minigames (several of which are clumsily thrust into certain missions), lacklustre gunplay, thoroughly mediocre driving, console UI, checkpoint saves, banal caricatures instead of characters, plentiful Ubisoft® bugs (which range from the surreal and amusing to complete game fuckers), terrifyingly contrived writing, mission scenarios that would not be out of place in
GTA 3, and, despite being touted as open world, blindingly linear.
The only dubious positive being that I had the opportunity to shoot not-Deadmau5 in the face with a grenade launcher.
Conclusion : Avoid. Play
Broforce instead.
How topical.

CAN YOU DIG IT

Shovel Knight is very cool if you look beyond the seemingly intellectually lazy so-retro-it-hurts façade. Entertaining gameplay, amusing quippery, actual fun. Ehue.

Torchlight II, what can I say, it's a gigantic step down. Balance issues that kill what little interest I was having following the sparse, contrived story. New classes that have no appeal or relevance to the game world. From scenery constantly blocking attacks to the crappy non-improved animations/textures over the first installation, regrettable waste of 10 dollars.
My embermage actually did less damage against the same monsters when I went from level 3 to 6 and it got ridiculously hard to fight similar numbers of enemies as I "improved" my character. And then there's this bar that builds up in a passive sort of way and causes spells to suck less mana out of my character for a few seconds when it is full, problem is the levels are so cramped (even though you're supposed to be outside now) and chock full of useless annoying scenery I can barely get my spells to connect so it can fill up. I sometimes even have trouble moving my character because I clicked on a 2 foot high coffin or an ill placed cluster of braziers, it feels like they increased the so called action by simply zooming in on the game world. And you can't zoom out.
Finally, the UI is absolute ass. I thought of a handful of things to improve combat flow before the third level, most notably being the skill selection mousing all the way over to the left side of the screen to change from my wand to the left click skill is not going to happen so my fire spell sat unused for this agonizing 30 minutes of trying to play the damn game. All they had to do is let me choose a skill to replace one or both of my skills when the often unused power bar fills up, but no, making sure 15 extra curb-high coffins were directly in my path was more important.
Looks like I'll have to stick to Diablo 2, and Torchlight 1 for my actionish oriented dungeon crawlers from now on. Or just stop trying. Most likely the latter.

Traded a MadCatz MOJO for a PSVita. Awesome trade. Really enjoying everything I've got on the Vita so far. Uncharted is pretty tight, much better than any of the Tomb Raider games it obviously stole the entire plot from.
I had no idea portable gaming had come so far. The last handheld I owned was a GameBoy Color...

Been thinking about getting a PSVita myself.
