Now that I agree with. I think the Critical Miss system needs to get overhauled, and when they do, weapons should have a reliability factor that influences Critical Misses. The main shortcoming of the Critical Miss system that they have in place is that the less chance to hit you have the greater chance you have of a critical miss and your weapon malfunctioning. Doesn't seem right to me...

Perhaps critical misses could be subdivided into "you screwed up" or "your weapon broke" categories. Personal errors would take into account weapon skill, luck, and possibly % to hit, and would include hitting friends/innocents, losing ammo(bumped the magazine release), losing your turn, hitting yourself, etc.

Weapon problems would be affected by your weapon and repair skills, luck, and the reliability of the weapon. Effects could include weapon destroyed, weapon unusable until repaired, weapon damaged and does half damage and/or has penalties to hit until repaired, etc. Energy weapons might also overload and fire all remaining ammo in one uber-shot that injures the user, destroys the gun, and probably vaporizes the target. Full-auto weapons might "run away" and fire all remaining ammo in one attack with a penalty to hit.

This is really starting to sound really good. Make sure the Dev's read this.

The Lahti L39 20mm Anti-Tank Rifle dates back to 1939. I can easily imagine someone in power armor using one of these. Assault Cannons are retrofuture after all...

Hah.. Yeah, I've always wanted a BIG GUN sniper weapon. Something similar to the Lahti L39 would be fit that bill perfectly.

If the min strengh was 9... That would be the only efficient weapon piercing the power armor - something I always missed in both Fallouts.

Yeah, once you got the power armor you were pretty much invincible. Except against a horde of enclavers and horrigan.

Horrigan's plasmagun was crap - inflicts something like 10-30 hp of damage (if you have a power armor). I caused him much worse using pulse rifle bozar, vindicator, gattling laser etc. I think the big bad boss should be armed with smth with much better punch.
As for the Lathi - it's NEED.

I'd like a disc-thrower/boomerang thrower like on mad-max. Mabye you could have buzz-saw blades and landmines to launch.

And mabye at the start of the game you get a pistol and you can mod it really easy. Like you can choose wether to put a laser on it, expand the magazine etc. and eventually make it into an entirely new weapon (Like a huge sniper rifle or plasma cannon) That's one of the things I liked about deus ex, you could mod your crappy pistol to be more like a shotgun, or make it better than your sniper rifle.

I also want something thats the equivalent of a LAW. I like the idea of picking up a single shot rocket launcher that you have to fold out and just blast something, then you can drop it.

I'd also like it if the ripper looked more like a chainsaw...at the moment it just doesn't feel like you could tear someone in half with it.

Mabye even chain a chainsaw onto the bottom of your plasma rifle.

A lighter could be a good weapon, you would just have to throw some gasoline on them first. And if you could make fuses by pouring a line of gun-power/gas that would be handy.

I also wanted to make a missile out of the oxygen tanks I had in FO2...mabye make a bomb out of them by strapping a oxygen and a napalm tank together.

I'd rather BUY new weapon.

Well, it's a good idea but I fear the weight will make it not possible to carry a lot of these.
If you can't carry a lot you'll tend to save them, and maybe never use them.
Meths wrote: I'd rather BUY new weapon.
Well, keep in mind that early in the game you can't buy anything you want, plus I think the idea of modifying/building your weapon will add to the setting.
If you could buy anything it wouldn't fit the post-apocalyptic survival setting.

Well, some smaller modifications would be nice, but we cannot exaggerate - there is no damn method to convert a crap pistol into the plasma cannon, using a junk found on the wastes.

Well you couldnt exactly make it out of a car door and some wire. You would mabye have to steal a plasma generator from the bos, then find some metal piping that could handle the heat.

You must know that NOTHING can handle a heat of the plasma. It just annihilate everyting it encounter on its way - you would have to find some magnetic trap to handle it. And even then that would be lotta acrobations to direct the plasma stream in one direction.

Well it was just an example...

I think it would be good having a gun like that. Each gun would be individual, and if you wanted to upgrade it you have to go on quests and stuff for it. It could end up being the most powerful weapon in the game, compared to some random laser rifle you stole from a bos base.

I hate that idea, Pyro. It sounds like Pokemon with guns, and doesn't really fit the feel of FO.

Pokamon with guns now that is a good idea!

But seriously I like the idea of customisable weapons but i think constantly having to upgrade your one gun to meet new challengers sounds irritating and slightly dull.

Maybe some poké-ball grenades as an easter egg.

The huge possibilities of customization, upgrades etc to your favourite weapon aren't bad idea. It would form a kind of attachement between the user and his weapon (without naming it, really). But as i mentioned, we cannot exaggerate because there are things we can't do without haveing a specialistic laboratory, gear and sciencists.
