*Three months later*

So I got around to playing Blood Money, and I must say that I found it quite excellent. I didn't have the same problems as some of the people who posted; it ran like a dream. Because I have a newer computer? I don't know.

The game was a lot of fun! One of the best things was dropping the piano on the chick in "The Murder Of Crows..." chapter. In general, I thought Blood Money was a good progression from the past games. All the new abilities that were added greatly improved the ability to be as silent of a assassin as possible.

There's also a lot to gripe about though, because the Hitman series could be so much better than it is. For one thing, the game isn't challenging enough, even running it in the highest difficulty mode. The problem is that there is no randomizer, so if you screw up in some way, you can just restart, and do it perfectly the next time around. The whole game is *way* too sequenced: after a few tries, you know where everyone is, where they'll go next, etc. There should be consequences for having to do the level multiple times: stuff added, onlookers placed in less convenient spots, etc.

Also, they tried to make it seem like there were consequences for the way you went about doing hits, but there really aren't any. Your face appears in the paper, but the cops don't come after you, and you aren't offered less money as far as I could see. Where's the down-side to just butchering the entire level?

Well, a fun game nevertheless. Best $10 I've spent in a little while. It was worth it just to be able to massacre an entire populace with a nail gun.

I actually liked most of the game, but it keeps
annoying me that you do so few real hits.
They allways seem to make everything to hollywood
and flashy. A great hitman game would be much
more gritty and realistic. No goddamn people in
bird-suits and firefights with 35 casualties.

I did enjoy beeing called a honkey. Finally! :drunk:

Yeah, that first level was hilarious: "Whatcha lookin' at, cracka?" Also: "Gotta check you, white-bread." From then on, whenever somone stopped me for a metal scan, I couldn't help saying out loud: "Gotta check you, white-bread." It's especially funny when it's a white cop.

I kinda wonder whether or not the developers toned down the racial stereotypes from that first level. That level was the demo that was put out, and it's the only one where you had anybody talking or acting like that.

None of the bad-assed special guns for killing everyone. I did the whole game in SA while causing nearly everyone to die by accident in the vineyard mission.

You gotta play on higher difficulties to see the effects of the newspaper. If you aren't playing on professional, there isn't anything that happens I believe.

All that happens pretty much is that people recognize you, which I suppose is appropriate. Still I think it would have been fun to have to take down an entire SWAT force that came to your hideout. Wild stuff!

In terms of weapons, I liked the upgrading of the existing weapons. Adding a scope, laser sight, and silencer to the shotgun was ridiculous fun. You could get different weapons by stealing them from each level, so I didn't really have a problem with them not being available right away.

The game just really doesn't have that much replay value: once you do the missions, yer done and there's not much else to do but go on a slaughter-fest.
