is a small amount of DDR memory equal to a load of normal memory? i can get 2x the normal memory for half the price of ddr... is ddr really all that great?

With your slow processor you should just go with the cheapest.
But with a fast processor I think you need ddr.

ive got too much memory for such a slow computer that i have. 450mghz to what rounds out to be 400mb ram (398) so thats kinda odd.
anyone do my shopping for me? i know... i kinda suck at looking for things. if anyone could suggest a setup that is pretty cheap, id apreciate it

Otherwise just look through pricewatch and see if you can upgrade your processor. I'm not too certain of the details in that but I think you might be able to upgrade it by buying a new processor and new mobo, but I'm not sure if that means you need to buy new memory or if you can use your old memory (but a stick of 512 ddr only cost like 80 bucks nowadays anyway...)
