Knowing Hervé, the Vault Dweller will probably be played by Gerard Depardieu. If Fallout was a movie, who would play the Vault Dweller?

Jesus, talk about digging up the old crap.
I guess it doesn't matter all that much though, because I'm going to talk about it anyway.
The question of how a Fallout movie could be made is actually one that I've thought about a lot. Ideally it would be based on the plot of the original game, though depending on how things do or don't need to be cut for time, a new plot with new characters would have to be created that addresse the same or similar issues.
Even if the original plot line was used though it would require some serious reworking to include the more memorable characters that people want to see without having to go through the trouble of having all of their respective towns. Honestly, I'd suggest only including Shady Sands, Junktown, The Brotherhood Bunker, and San Francisco amongst the towns that we actually visit, if only for their varying visual attributes, and have the action-based excursiouns only include Necropolis, The Glow, the Military Base and the Cathedral. That way we'd get a lot of the core characters and most of the core plot (what we don't get can have it's location moved).
As for casting, I'd ultimately say that the Vault Dweller should be cast with a relative unknown (a complete unknown would be ideal). In this way, the film would become more like the game. The audience would enter the theater with expectations for the film, not the actor in the lead, they would be watching him or her evolve as players of the game do, not watching for the actor's trademarks and in that way the illusion would be more thorough. This person would BE the Vault Dweller for the audience, not some celebrity in a costume.
That's all I'm going to go into right now, hopefully I've made some sense and this will generate some sort of actual discussion.
