256 mb mp3 player with usb 2.0 would be damn damn damn fine, considering that holds 4-6 albums at near cd quality (128kbit) or 2-3 albums at cd quality (256kbit) but the standard these days is 128 - 192kbit, and that it would fill up the whole player in a minute with usb 2.0

plus you never need to buy storage medium or worry about mechanical parts

i mix up my mp3 player all the time and it's fun wewt!!!11

whatever you get make sure it has a docking station and uses standard batteries that can be replaced when u recharge them too many times (after 2 years)

another goody to look for is radio, mine has FM radio and it's alright when i want to check the newz or see what crap yougens are listening to today, mine also has a mic. but i've only used that a couple times, i used it to record myself when i presented a speech at school while i was piss drunk.

ewtwewt!

There are no decent electronic stores within 40 miles and I doubt they have worse inventory than internet shops :)

--------

Most portable audio players I've managed to find are normal CD - and casette players, not even any MD players.

Ach, it seems finding a decent/cheap online shop that won't have too much customs expenses is nearly impossible... So I've decided to go for a rather normal MP3 CD player, which can be found in any average shop (though farther than within 40 miles of range) for a decent price, 100-150 €.

Yup. Hay straws taste good, partnah, you should try one too.

But honestly I love it on the countryside, I could never live in a large city. I tried Berlin (4 million people) and after a week felt like "Screw you guys, I'm going home". EVEN with these minor drawbacks, like no goody good electronics anywhere nearby, I'd take a big house and lots of forest around it than a small flat apartment with millions of people around it any day.

Depends where you live in a big city. Montreal is 2 millions, and I live in a nice place. All victorian and old brick houses, lots of trees (no forest but still) and there aren't much cars, no big highway or shopping center near, and it's close to Mont Royal, on which there is a big park, with a lake and trees.

Pretty neat place. Thanks to my parents.

Go to a local electronics store and get a CD/MP3 player...I've got one...Takes 2 batteries, lasts 12 hours, plays about 150 songs per MP3 CD, and plays regular CDs..Came with a car kit as well..Cost $29 USD....

Yeah, I guess that's what I'm going to do. It seems those strange minidisc- and memory stick players are too advanced for us barbarians.

Suburbia is the place to be. I love visiting big cities (San Fran, NY, Boston, etc.) but I wouldn't want to live there. Of course, living in a rural place would be even worse...
