I'm sorry I'm talking back for Spaz, but is that supposed to be an insult or something? :confused2:

And how are you qualified to declare someone fan or not?

I'm a post-apoc fan, BlackDog? Funny, I tend of think of myself as a good games fan. I also tend to think of you as a dumb shit.

A PA setting isn't conducive to a good game--see Devastation (shit), The Fall (oh my crap, that's gonna be shit) or Neocron (great googely globs of shit). PA can be good, of course, but its main advantage is simply that it's not fantasy.
How appropriate. You fight like a cow.

Well you did edit your message and mine. Are you afraid of being wrong or something? Seriously man that's kinda pathetic. Especially since my avatar isn't from a game. I do agree with you that the 3 post-apoc games you named are indeed not very good. Nigh unplayable.

But please, continue posting like you do. You are the only one who is looking more and more like a dumb shit as you put it.

Edit your message? What the hell? I didn't edit anyone's messages, nor can I. As for my dumb shititivity, well, that's entirely subjective. A matter of opinion. For instance, in my opinion, you're a worthless, dumb fuck who spews pointless BS and then makes up other, even more pointless BS when your first BS is refuted.
How appropriate. You fight like a cow.

Quick answers session from the only person in the DAC community who actually knows anything about STALKER ;)

S.T.A.L.K.E.R. Is an acronym, somehow they managed to make a phrase out of Stalker (Yes it's also the nickname given to the researchers, bounty hunters, etc etc who hunt the zone.). They use every oppurtunity to say 'Yes it's an acronym but you can't find out what it means unless you playyyy!'... perhaps this is some obscure marketing technique to get all those with obsessive compulsive curiosity disorders to buy the game.

No Co-Op: For those of you who've never played a single player game co-operatively, you have no standing point to belittle its worth. Co-operative online play is... somehow stupidly entertaining... particularly when your teammates have a shred of roleplay in their souls and don't go 'lol omg rofl its teh alienz0r!' at every available moment.. The atmosphere of having an intelligent (comparatively with the average AI teammates) team is amazing... If any of you have a dusty old copy of halflife, it would be worth your time to install, patch it, and download the 'Sven-Coop' modification, it's pure co-operative, you cannot damage your teammates, and in the more realistic maps like resident evil, the ammo is scarce and must be shared, you MUST work as a team for many of the creatures, so on and so on.

Not having co-op is bad! It will happen eventually I think, the public outcry over this will prompt them to include it in a patch a few months after release or something, pretty much the same as Deus Ex's multiplayer (Which yes, was terrible)...

Post Apocalypse fans: I don't know about you but I get a kick from the dusty, orange lit wasteland feel, makeshift cars covered in rusted spikes and inventive well improvised weapons, little torn up lumps of past civilisation piled up to form a rough shack for people who no longer understand what a car even war, even though it actually forms half their back door. Mutant creatures, warped by hunger and some odd 50's style radiation effects. Zombies!. Everything. Fallout and Mad Max are the direct definition of post-apocalypse. This does not, however, mean that STALKER and Neocron are not post apocalypse, their just some odd little red haired stepchild spinoff's of the true post-apoc vein. And Neocron is actually a damn good game. I quit with boredom.. then finally realised all the other MMO's were actually worse, and will be returning when Dome of York is released this summer.

Grahhh! >< :chainsaw:

Nice long post and i couldnt find anything about Stalker we hadnt brought up already ;)

But i agree, no coop will suck in my book. The game is supposedly very non-linear, so why not make full use of the oppurtunity? Im starting to think this game will rely alot more on scripted events than the devs have led us to beleive (I say, HL2 anyone?)

Coop doesnt have to mean running a small platoon of Stalkers, two people would be enough i think. But yeah, maybe we can push :chainsaw: them for a patch later on if they leave it out.

Yeah my post was intended more for clarification...

I know halflife is an apparent dissapointment but I really don't care too much about that.. Halflife is pure scripted scenes, just the way it is. Some nice physics will add some unpredictability, but it won't be revolutionary.

Stalker on the other hand... I'm thinking it'll be more like System Shock 2. The only game i'm aware of where the enemies wandered on complete random. It's what made the game terrifying, the enemies were not on waypoints, they could patrol the same corridor 50 times (I watched this once, from behind a desk), and then finally decide to stagger down the new corridor toward you... amazing. This life simulation system sounds real to me, plausible... A few scripted sequences won't really degrade the gameplay as long as they are not 'too' linear, and i doubt there will be any except perhaps for the beginning and end of the game where a little nudge in the right direction may be required.

that's the best part of stalker actually. On top of that, I guess it's probably the most promissing and intriguing new feature of FPP as a genre that I've ever heard of. It's posssibly gonna make playing so much more enjoyable and interesting.
BTW nice post - the long one - but I think Stalker is not a step-something or any sub-thing but a PA of just another apocalypse. Not all PA needs to be a result of an A-war.
